Does anyone live near or drive past Westwood?
We can use a ride. Thanks.

Sorry. Eastside here!

What time is M.I.K.E. on?

The flyer is funny. Capacity crowd expected?

Seriously? Really. For real.

Dave

i was more amused by "An Event you don't want to miss, Guarantee!!" i mean seriously, get a copywriter! and what's up with the free admission coupon cannibalizing the $3 presale link? the whole flyer screams desperation imo...

Posted by DaveT on Apr-05-2009 06:16:

Free entry with flyers is nothing new.

It helps bring people and lets them know if people are paying attention to flyers.

That said, I haven't really seen it done a lot since....heh, thinking about it prob after the dot-com bomb happened.

All promoters need copy-editors.This need was pointed out in another thread...lol. Flyers are always full of mistakes like that.

Anyhow, just not good to use wording ilke "capacity crowd expected" when we all know that's not going to happen with this lineup and it looks bad to those who do attend and expect this big crowd this flyer promises.

Posted by R!CH on Apr-05-2009 06:27:

well i mean it seems kind of redundant to me having a cut out coupon offering the same deal as the guestlist sign up link posted right below the web flyer. i guess if the point is to track literally who is reading the flyer, then it serves its purpose, but if you're going offer a the same deal on a web promotion through guestlist, it would class up your flyer to not try baiting people with all kinds of free this and that just for showing up. i dunno, it just serves as more of a deterrent to me when the official event flyer has deals written all over it. i guess i'm more used to how sf promoters offer deals as sign up links posted below the web flyer, not on it. besides a print out coupon doesn't give you as much info about or access to your customers as a sign up form.

Posted by DaveT on Apr-05-2009 06:41:

Well, the web flyer could be the same flyer as the print flyer...how it is most of the time!

How was she? Was it packed?

I didn't get to see her play more than one record, but I went in the main room for a little bit at the start of her set and it was packed.

I was hoping she would do well but unfortunately it didn't happen. I've never seen any dj trainwreck so much. It was quite embarrassing. She played a lot of Armada tracks so I'm sure some people liked her track selection. Her set just didn't do anything for me. There was nothing special about it.

Another thing that was embarrassing was the drinks Circus management served Jennifer. Normal clubs usually have a bottle of Greygoose or similar plus mixers and beer waiting for the dj and their entourage. Not Circus. They gave Jennifer a bottle of 5-dollar white zinfandel Somebody who had a glass of it said it was the nastiest wine she's ever tasted. I know this wasn't the first time Circus has done this and I'm sure it's not the last time either....

On the other hand, M.I.K.E. didn't disappoint! His set was sooo good I couldn't stop dancing. His last set at Circus was a bit disappointing but this time he was ten times better. Like a friend of mine said, the set was "more M.I.K.E." I'm glad he was the closing dj because he didn't play that much fluffy stuff. Many songs were hard or had a nice "kick" to them

Ya. I've heard that about her. She always has a decent track selection considering her connections with Armin and Armada, but I think she needs a lil practice behind the decks. I'm hoping that she will keep DJing and get better, because her passion for the music gives off a lot of good vibes and she would be a kick ass DJ to see if she had the experience I think.

lol the biggest mistake of my wmc life was being dragged to the armada party at parkwest last year. not only the most shit club in the universe, but i was imprisoned by the bouncers in the basement, forced to listen to jen rene wreck time after time after time. why was the music stopped every 5 minutes? oh because jen rene was putting cds underneath the cdj, then scratching her head when the music stopped...

That is soooo funny. I was shocked as hell to see you there. Such different perspectives. Although everyone else seemed to love it, SSFD was torture for me. Couldn't wait to get out of there. Armada night, on the other hand, was probably the best party for me lol. Believe it or not it was my first time seeing Armin. Menno too. And then that 6 hour set from Markus. But yes, being briefly locked out of the main room when Armin went on sucked but I guess I thankfully wasn't back there when she was on.
