ADVANCED 24-BIT USB 2.0 INTERFACE FOR PROFESSIONAL DJS

Like the world standard Rane SL 1, the SL 3 connects one or two standard vinyl or CD turntables to your computer and the mixer of your choice. Using regular turntables or CD players, you can scratch and mix files from your Mac or Windows computers CD or hard drive.

Enhanced by studio grade preamps and 24-bit audio processing, this compact new solution produces a warm punchy sound to heighten the senses. The Auxiliary Ouputs allow DJs and electronic musicians to intensify the mix with the Scratch Live SP-6 Sample Player. The Auxiliary Inputs provide a live input feed for creative sampling or recording your set. Use any combination of audio sources: control CD, control vinyl, MIDI or regular CDs and vinyl for more flexibility than ever.

The included 12" vinyl records and control CDs each have Seratos exclusive and unique control signal which allows Scratch Live to track the motion of the record, simulating the same movement with digital audio. Due to Seratos proprietary control scheme, the result is a feel and sound indistinguishable from playing vinyl.

Interesting. So it is just an upgraded soundcard, right? Seems like users who have an SL1 now won't NEED to upgrade. Any word on when they're going to start selling these?

You can already buy it. It's shipping as of today. Guitar Center already has it.

Oh cool. I probably won't upgrade to it. I'd have to sell my SL1 to afford it.

when was there an sl-2? didnt they just rename the original serato box as the sl-1?

upgrades look interesting, but won't be upgrading. just recently bought scratch and don't feel the extra goodies are worth the $$$.

Really doesn't seem that big a deal to me? Nothing new that's making me go ooooohhh..

Seems like this update should have been done quite some time ago. I was expecting more 'new' features.

Still nice for people who are buying serato new. Wonder if they'll hike the price.

+10000000000 The new update does nothing to me. And yes, the price has gone up to $799 MSRP. Some places are selling it for $699.

That's pretty insane.

It is interesting to watch the different companies and their strategies though, with Serato going for the hi-end market of DVS's and NI doing the Duo thing and whatnot.

Bottom line: there's plenty of options for everyone.

Geez. That a pretty big jump from the price of the SL1 at $500. The DVS market is getting really interesting.

Personally, i think this is just a bridging update... By that I mean it keeps some of the punters happy.

They've now at least released something new which brings them up to date.

But finally, I think this is their way of buying themselves more time. I think they are working on something with Ableton but need more time, and in their eyes this will give them that extra year or 2 before they maybe release something together with Ableton.

In the end of the day they are running a business and whether or not we're impatient if whatever they bring out (with ableton) is show stopping and intriguing enough for people to want to buy it they will make money, I just do not think we'll know what it is for quite some time.

just my 2c..

i think it's just for the sake of announcing something. Their competitors are all releasing new things. the tracktor pro series upped the game quite a bit (for functionality if not stability), and the Duo release moves down into the SSL price range. Meanwhile there's not been all that much on the SSL front.

They announced the partnership with ableton with no real details at the same time as pro came out, possibly to try to encourage people to stick with them in the meantime.

sure it's a bit nicer soundcard, but I wouldn't be rushing out to make the upgrade

The only thing I don't understand (other than the price, which is apparantly for the whole SL-3 KIT, not just the interface)... is that they STILL haven't matched the features of the NI Audio 8 DJ...

Only 6 in/6 out, no headphone preamp, no MIDI, no driver support outside of Serato (at release).

Like wuh? The only thing it has over the audio 8 is a 3rd phono-preamp.

With their announced Ableton partnership, I find this confusing. 3 stereo in's/out's and no drivers doesn't seem forward thinking.

Exactly.. Die hard fanboys will go out and buy this.

Personally I would love to see what their sales figures will be like in 6 months time. Just out of curiosity

700 USD? I dont think so!

this will be the hardware used when serato and ableton combine so if you have the SL1 you're shit outta luck...
