Sasha & Digweed b2b setup

Yo. Well, does anybody know how the varous part of the big desk are connected?
For example, in THIS clip, Sasha using his mixer with Ableton and Maven mixing up effects or tracks, and John play in a "classic" mode with cdj and an Allen & Heat mixer.

The question is:
How to connect together this two different apparatuses to have the result that John & Sasha have?

Thank you,

Jack to RCA imo.

Imo, absolutely not.
Anyone?

I play with setups that include me rigging my mixer (which has 4 stereo inputs from a sound card/ableton) into another mixer which is connected to CDJ'S.

I just have my mixers output going into one of the channel inputs on the other mixer, it's that simple.

Yes, that's simple but if sasha (for example) wanna put an effect (echo or other) to a track that digweed is playing, with this simple connection you can't do it!
Maybe, an exit from John's mixer enter in the Sasha's one, Live catches the tempo and now you have both apparatuses working.

I didn't realise you were looking to add Ableton effects to a CDJ channel. That would involve routing the CDJ audio into Ableton and then back out again.

So, with the simple connection you have, you have to pitch manually a track in Live, if you wanna mix it with an other playing on cdj.
What do you do to start it at the right moment like a cdj does? And to pitch it? I'm sorry man but something doesn't work in my mental setup

In Ableton, to start the track at the right "moment" I turn the quantisation off, so it starts as soon as I hit play, or whatever controller I'm using. Then I use the nudge functions to keep the track from going all Tiesto. I use this process, along with changing the BPM, to beat match as well.

I don't know what are you meaning

A friend of mine once did a Back2back, where he was using Ableton and the other one Vinyl. He had some special device that allowed him to pitch bend in Ableton. I could ask him what the name of that device was (totally forgot) in case you're interested

I meant I use the Nudge functions to slightly speed up or slow down the track to keep it in time with the CDJ.

variation on the Q2 dual DJ maybe?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q2_Dual_DJ

That's the mess Zab and Fanciulli were using on the one + one tour.

Although i seriously doubt it, but eh it's a thought.

Actually he's perfectly right.

There's a Xone 92 or DJM-800 as the main mixer and John has 3 channels on the left, with CDJs, and Sasha has his Maven's main out going into the 4th channel.

Simple as that.

Sasha doesn't have the ability to do that.

And it would be impossible to route the sound from john's CDJs back into ableton... the latency would be a nightmare!

the use of any effects unit should always be "occasional"

I can confirm 1000% that you are wrong.

I have all three riders here- john, sasha, and for them together.

When together, sashas output goes in to ch4 on johns a&H 92.

Johns CDJs go into 1,2, & 3, aux 1 goes to the EFX1000, aux 2 goes to the cycloops, and mic/line rtn 1 is the efx output, and mic/line rtn 2 is the cycloops output.

When playing on his own, john has a 4th CDJ into channel 4 instead of sashas input.

Dispute it all you want, but that is how it is done. From the horses mouth.

Neigh
