i open mtv 2 and what do i see a commercial for oakie's buunka he has totally gone mainstream why oakie why? oh well still love the guy.

), but he likes Ready Steady Go from bunkka, and he actually chooses to listen to the perfecto remixes on his single CD's (Mansun Wide Open Space, U2 - Beautiful Day, Embrace - Save Me etc...). And lets not forget, the guy opens for U2 when they tour, and they're the biggest band on earth, and they don't just let anybody build a crowd up for them

i saw The Bourne Identity, and during the car scene, they were playing 'Ready Steady Go'.
but they kept playing the beginning part like every minute, it was some stupid shiiiiieeett.

you hear his recent compilations which are just shit, wandering all over the place
you go see him live, and the energy and vibe the crowd produces is nowhere compared to say..pvd

I Hate these random vash oakey threads, they just make want to kill people (namely Alice Dj) but anyways thats not what Im trying to say.
Oakey deserves respect, 3 years ago you would have all been kissing his ass, his sets were amazing, and just because he changed his style lately does not mean he lacks a signature sound, It means his sound is constantly changing, which is a good thing, because it keeps him fresh.
Probably the most common DJ to bash on...Oakenfold.
It's true that without his contributions to the scene, the scene wouldn't be half as where it would be today. But then again it's not only him that made the dance music genre what it is today...Sasha, PvD and others are just as deserving as pioneers as Oakenfold. It's because Oakenfold decides to bank on his sucess and be smart and make shit loads of loot based on his talent in production and DJing that people are bitter about...whenever they see somebody rake in sucess in the music industry, they automaticaly associate with 'mainstreaming' and 'commercialization' because of images like Eminem(who redefines selling out if anything...a pure undergrounder who turned into a MTV POP...not rap, but pop icon BECAUSE of somebody ELSE...cough cough Dre cough cough), Britney Spears and N'Sync..
Now what do these fan-fucks have to do with Oakey? They apply the same principles in making money in the music industry as Oakey, and vice versa - they give the fans what they want, and change with the progression of music...who would've ever thought that Ready Steady Go would be produced by Oakey a few years ago in his 'golden days'?
So you see, while Oakey maybe a egotistic self absorbed musician and 'businessman' more than anything else, you gotta give him the proper respect that he fully deserves...not only is he a pioneer and one of the true foundations in electronica, but in today's music in general(read his bio and music history if you dunno what I'm talking about)
And to those who bash Oakey, I can see where you are coming from...because we TA's here are devoted to the UG music scene and non commercialized artists(by commercialized, I mean shit like...well, Eminem), it's kinda disheartening to see legends like Oakenfold do the stuff he is doing, but then again, you can't blame the guy. 6 million for the shit he does isn't bad.

everytime i see him which is hasnt been just one or two times.. i've seen this guy like over 8 times... and all those times were wonderful.. u guys have no idea how many ppl respect him for what he does, and NO he is not doing for the fucking money...he can't help but being that one Dj who makes more money than any other for the past 4 years in a roll...
he enjoys what he does.. have u ever seen him spin in front of a crowd.. and how whenever he plays a song that he really enjoys.. he closes his eyes.. and pretend like he is in a different dimension or something.. and he smiles and puts his hands up and starts dancing.. I mean jesus....i think we already know how many ppl in here hate him.. but bashing his work all over the internet is not taking you guys anywhere ,to me this is just a waste of ur time.. get over the fact that you think he sucks.. cause he is been in the top of the world .
oh and just for the record.. he is not my favorite DJ either... yet you dont see me complaining about his every moves.. if you guys dont like him at all.. THEN fucking dont follow his every step.!!
