so i took a deep listen to this mix when i was in transit from philly to houston. the flight departed from 1830 and arrive at 930 (orsoO). so i was thinking; Dope! 3 hr flight ! this is gonna be great. joke was on me. stupid time zones made it a 4 and a half hour flight including delay. i wish i could adjust delay parameters in real life. lol. so again, i took a deep listen and heres what i though.
the first track seemed overwhelming. i thought this because of the deep builds and such. definately started off different than other sets youve made. lol. it was a strong intro but i enjoyed it none the less. the 2nd track comes around and i guess i just so happen to be into more beaty patterns than heavy melodies. so when i was listening i was bobbin my head the whole time. some people looked at me and smiled or gave me a questionable look since the salvidorian dude in the sailor outfit was having a party inside his goshdamn head. lol. funny funny funny.
the transitions were definately good. everything went really well until i heard music matters by faithless. i was like... FUCK! i hate this song. lol. this song also was a track i noticed that brought in the first leads and other melodies.
the song after that tho started gettin me back in. i was definately boppin my head harder. at the 42 minute mark i was fucken in it! i definately loved that track. i would love to hear that track at a warehouse or some massive space because i have this german techno video that describes the fall of the berlin wall and how music exploded out there. this track at this mark sounds like some of those tunes in the vid but slowed down a bit.
the last track was a good finisher.
overall, the strong points were the mixing, eq'ing and for the most parts the selection was dope.
weak points; music matters.... sorry dude. im sure that rocks floors and all but i had a hard time enjoying it. though i did listen to the set from start to stop.
Thanks for the in depth review. I know what you mean about the music matters tracks. Kinda went back and forth on including it. I like the mark knight remix and wish i could get that track without the lyrics. That's really the only reason I like that track.
I like the second track very much. Been searching for more tracks like that one and am using that as some framework for some production ideas.
I might actually re-record this set and repost. I had a couple of other tracks that I left out that I really wanted to include that might be a better fit than the faithless track, in hindsight.
Thanks for the review.
yea that song is really good i just hate how maxi jazz does his thing then the female vocals come in.
I've been doing techno and prog for a while now so im super eager to hear this....downloading and will give a full review asap!!!!! tracklisting looks delicious !!!!
i do believe there was a little colombian soul in there, too.
