Final Cut

Anyone know how to turn off interlacing? A friend of a friend asked me and I am clueless. Never used it.

interlace is a function of how the video was shot. when imported into final cut it uses the format it was filmed in. generally you only deinterlace things like freeze frames by putting a deinterlace filter on it but after you're done editing you can deinterlace the entire movie in compressor or export it as progressive. Note deinterlacing is like applying a blur filter which will make your video look smoother but also less sharp.

hope that helps. video is more complex then one would imagine.

No this didn't help.

Also, interlacing isn't necessarily how the video was shot. You obviously are clueless in this regard. You can interlace or de-interlace (this is a fake progressive as you can't add anything that didn't exist before reliably) the video when it is imported or exported.
