[Drum and Bass] Good MC versus Bad MC?

Are all Drum and Bass MCs great or am I just infatuated with this portion of the culture?
Any bad MCs or sets which horrible MCs?

These two are the best damn MCs I've seen:

Well I've heard a fair bit of bad mcing, and that guy actually improves the tune, so I'll put that as good.

as a rule, mc's are dogshit awful. Some in dnb like Eksman for example make me want to slice my ears off. A good MC should know the basics of tunes, and not scream over the top of certain bits, just try to enhance things. In history a few have managed to do it, but many fail. However as I grew up on rave tapes, I've developed the ability to not hear most of them, just switch off to it, so long as the tape wasn't so poorly mastered that the MC was way too loud which happened in a few cases.

when i think of DnB MCs i think of LTJ Bukem and MC Conrad... i would definetly enjoy it without him, but seems like people really like him.. they always tour together

Not a fan of MC's at all, in D&B/garage/etc. They tend to talk too much, repeating the same stuff over and over, and get in the way of the music.

I'd rather not hear them over atmospheric or jazzy drum 'n bass. Say what you like about their effectiveness, but a guy shouting "ALL THE PEOPLE IN THE PLACE" is just not classy. Ruins the mood for me.

Harry Shotta - crazy sick MC!!!

Truth. Why would you want some dude who can't shut up ruining the vibe? Makes zero sense to me.

SuspicionVandit could you tell me what the track is that's playing in the first sample please?

99% of the time I cannot stand MC's, especially when they do it in the style shown in that first clip, I'm sure I heard the words "battyman crew" in there somewhere haha

However, sometimes I do enjoy it when the MC actually sings and harmonises with the music rather than "rapping" for example, Stamina MC and Dynamite MC

Shinichi Osawa - Star Guitar (brookes Brothers remix)

Most of the sample is mixed in with Brookes Brothers - Dawn Treader.

I can't fuckin stand MCs even more than I can't stand radio DnB DJs like DJ Hype. All I can think of when I hear either is...

I hate all MC's equally.

Posted by distant on Apr-07-2009 19:00:

hosts > MCs

unless they're spitting actual lyrics. but even that doesn't work all the time. e.g. I don't really want to hear a grime MC over anything other than grime.

again - harry mothafuckin shotta!!!

I dislike MCs, but every rule has an exception, Verse being one.

Also, I like the MC in this one:
