024 Windmill Sessions

Number 24 of the Windmill Sessions...featuring some fresh new tunes from session staples Arthur Deep and Mango, a return to form from the talented Storyteller. Plus an overlooked beaut from Way Out West to kick things off and one of my favourite true prog-trance tracks from a few years ago, Private Taste-"First".
Should be some lush stuff hopefully

Way Out West feat. Ulrich Schnauss-Northern Lights
A somewhat overlooked track off Way Out West's "Don't Look Now". A stunningly evocative breakbeat exercise, with boundless breadth to the melodic sounds and stirring, drone-like bass.
Arthur Deep-Burning Memories
The second track is noticeably lighter in tone than the intro. I deliberately wanted something quite hopeful and optimistic after the dark maturity of the opener. "Burning Memories" fit the bill nicely.
Soundstorm-Contact (arthur deep remix)
A transition track to help with the flow at the early stages of the mix, Arthur Deep delivers a calm, considered proggy chiller.
Alex Rize-Ailyx (east cafe remix)
Melodic prog breaks. A rare thing. Luckily there is still the odd gem about. Love how this track expodes with vibrancy after the moody build and break.
Mango-Good Morning Track
The title says it all! Mango back to his early rich, melodic best. Some wonderful lead melodies in the latter part of this tune.
Jozef Kugler-Last Station
Exciting newcomer Jozef Kugler delivers a hugely kinetic workout with a bouncing bass and weird vocal snippets.
Filigro-Kaleidoscope
More promising work from a relative newcomer on Primal. "Kaleidoscope" has a bit of everything thrown in. Smooth, driving in parts and lush throughout. Filigro's recent EP on Primal is well worth checking out.
Arthur Deep-White Park
The sounds of Arthur Deep really flexing his melodic production muscles. His prolific productions seem to be improving all the time, a real genre leader.
Sunburnt Octopus-Cruise Control
A curious track from the excellently named Sunburnt Octopus. It's a bitch to mix (I had to bring it in early, before dropping it out altogether before slowly introducing it again-it was that jarring!).
Flux Capacitor-Gone Away (mango remix)
Mango showing his darker, impactful side with a great remix reminiscent of his work on Michael and Levan's "January Morning".
Storyteller-Proof
A smooth, complemetary transition into the returning Storyteller's track-"Proof". You just seem to drift through this one!
Lokitas-Indifference (aleksey beloozerov remix)
Brilliant re-imagining of the original track by Beloozerov, who is a very talented and versatile Russian. This track oozes depth and classy production skills.
Domased Electronica-Dewpoint
Getting slightly more banging now as we enter the dark tunnel which propels us towards the climax of the set. Big, organic percussion and old-style prog sensibilities here.
Human Blue-Dragonflingz
Wonderful psy-trancey track by uber-producer Human Blue. Can imagine Oakie boshing this out in his heyday. We are tipping 137bpm by now!
Private Taste-First
Majestic, soaring and mature prog trance to wrap things up. Skin-tingling lush sweeps of sound all round! One of my favourite tracks ever, just love it as an ender to a set and a great example of what trance can achieve.
downloading now. Looks good - thanks for sharing this.
As always man, it's my pleasure to share.
Hope it sounds good to your ears!
The sessions are back!! good work son.
Tracklist looks good, a lot is new to me but some wicked names dotted around. Looking forward to the Arther Deep tuneage, I've got a few of his recent sets from on here and they are the closest sets I have heard to a Windmill session.
awesome stuff! thanks for sharing with us
I'm only 10 minutes in but I am confident I'm really gonna enjoy this. Always looking for lush prog like this. Cheers fella.
I hadn't listened to these since session 19, but I'll probably end up getting all the ones I missed.
Oh and you're right about that intro track. I was surprised how dark it was to start a set. Good tune though.
DL now...

Your mixes are just about the only sort of dance music I enjoy at the moment.
Blufeld - Moonbeams Kiss The Sea >>> What a beautiful tune. Those chords are just mind bendingly chill.
Damn fine work mate.
Any chance of a back catalogue of your early stuff?
I only got like 20-23

Giving this another go tonight. Just got back from a two day business trip, and I'm relaxing with this set and a few beers. As always, brilliant mixing and programming, sir. I only wish I had half your skills. Thanks again for taking the time to put these together.

| Originally posted by sunsurge I'm no real expert technician to be honest, just a bit of a perfectionist with mixes, not happy until I get it as tight as possible. More of an thought-out approach rather than natural flair I'm afraid! Glad the mixes are still doing the business for you Ryan. What sort of stuff are you listening to at the mo? Similar DJ's to this style or boshing out the epic trance? |
