These tunes are years and years old. Some as far back as 05. Nothing is new on here. Go be a dj and spend 15 bucks at beatport and make a set of new music.

I appreciate the advice. Was there technically anything else wrong with the mix other than my choice of programming?

Posted by ZeeRobot1 on Apr-10-2009 15:18:

dont mind him.

it was fresh and I am a fan of hearing the massive tunes of days past people hate to much just because its not fresh on beatport or some garbage.

keep spinning.

Thank you. I didn't mind about what he said if it was something to make me a better dj, as long it had constructive information why. If all I have to do in that person's eyes is go spend $15 dollars at beatport then I would like to think that I'm doing pretty good. :-)

Yea, i would spin some newer stuff. Any set that is made up of more than 50% of old (older than 6 months) tracks just shows (in my eyes) a DJs lack of knowledge about the music because he isn't out there looking for anything new. And a set with all vocals isn't a great idea, unless like u said someone has asked for it. It all depends on what kind of DJ you want to be though, but all vocals makes it seem like you only know the mainstream stuff. Venture out more and listen to new releases on beatport and audiojelly and you'll find some great music that isnt necessarily played on ASOT and it'll do wonders for your set.

No dude. Its not a matter of i don't want to hear classics...last night i was bumping northern exposure for christ's sake, so that's not the case. The case being, putting a mix out of yourself to show people on trance addict of tunes from way past is not too bueno. I own every tune on that track list and still listen to em. It wasn't a matter of i am judge mental of people who don't have the latest releases..its a matter of i don't think he has kept up with tunes in the last half decade. As a dj yes, its somewhat normal to shop for songs more than once every five years lmfao. Good songs on there, just rip a fresh mix of some more up to date tunes..basically take to heart the comment above this one. ^^^^

Correction* i own them all except for the ne-yo track

Wow! How do I respond? This was something I put together to showcase the fact I can play that kind of set, with the fact there are no sound clashes "everything is mixed in key" tried to pick songs that the average person who doesn't listen to electronic music can appreciate and enjoy. Also I picked songs and their order in relation to content to the songs I was mixing into and out of. Most of all I was having fun while I was doing it. as for my other mix sets check out my page at www.soundcloud.com/djlight . I hope you like and I appreciate feedback positive and negative to improve being a DJ. It's something that I care about and I want to put my best foot forward in this endeavor that I have decided to commit to. Thank you for your opinion.

all the tunes are good man...just a little old. Good mix and good track selection. Dogzilla's frozen and tenisha's burning from the inside are my top choices from this mix.

I could not disagree more. If the music is any good, it will have a longer life span than 6 months. Granted, some stuff that old has been over played but the push for such a large proportion of "new" music has led to the flood of disposable music you find on the likes of beatport.

I know that was just your opinion. This is just mine.

Not sure if you follow trance, but alot of songs listed were mega anthems on ferrys' cds, and played in everyones sets. Extremely popular anthems from way back. I think its why i said something and why GT said something. Kinda like a house set released now with david guettas the world in mine, deep dish's dreams, kaskades sorry, etc, all mixed together and dropped now. You catch my drift ? Anyways, i agree with what you were saying though man, just stating the purpose here. I enjoyed the mix regardless.

Posted by Lostvission on Apr-11-2009 21:34:

and yeah if i was a dj..there are a ton of tunes i would hammer from years back. Just not anthems. Maybe lustral - solace (quivver remix) or chicken lips - hes not in (vandalism mix), or paolo mojo's - 1983. All of those are old but so sick and would still do damage.

The purpose of djing isn't to play new music, it's to play music that is new to the audience.

Oh, and good music.

Horrible post imo.

I understand your point entirely. I actually haven't even looked at the track list or listened to this mix. I just think that GTS3gEclipse's assessment of the senescence of tracks used in a mix was a bit overarching and/or misguided.

Posted by djlight1978 on Apr-13-2009 04:49:

I'm glad and kinda flattered that Ferry Corsten has the same taste in music as I do. :-)

Posted by GTS3gEclipse on Apr-13-2009 14:27:

I was just stating my own personal opinion. DJing myself, I find it boring to mix the same tracks over and over again. My friends just recently went and saw Armin @ Roseland in NYC and said it was very similar to the set he played there for halloween. It's just my opinion and personal preference for newer stuff (with some oldy but goodies mixed in). It all depends on the audience, and i dont know what the exact purpose of this mix is so i'm not saying it's a bad thing to have a TL like this, just saying it's my preference. Just trying to clarify my statement cuz it seems like many people don't agree, but i wasn't saying the set HAD to be like that, just stating what I like. He asked for feedback, and i told him what I thought, if he listens to me or not is up to him.

this is the most unique, unforgettable music that you will ever vomit to.
