If you're looking to minimize pocket damage, these should do you right:

2x Gemini PT2100 Turntables

1x Behringer VMX300

Those turntables are around $200 - $250 US each, and the mixer I think is around $150 - $200 US. This will suit you just fine imo.

Well not everybody can affort technics so i would go 4 the gemini pt's ... and in the end it's better if you can spin on the pt's you can close your eye's on technics

go for th Gemini SA600, they are one step above the crap beginners. Straight arm, reasonable torque etc.

You can get brand new technics for 500 a piece @ turntablelab.com
As for the mixer...get something reasonable...like an Ecler or that Berhinger mixer that is posted in a reply...
or try ebay. I got a pair of near new techincs for less than 700. All i need is a decent mixer..a toss up between the Ecler SMAC03 or the Ecler HAK320.

I just got my TEchnics 1200 mk2 for 480$ from PSSL and I get 80$ back as a rebate.

You could get 2 mk2s for 1000 and then get 80 back from each which would be enough to get the behringer mixer from them, which is a great beginner mixer, you could even get the 2 channel model for like 110$ i think and then save the rest to help buy cartridges or something.

And even though cd players might look cool (which they are) they have nothing on vinyl. People all told me that vinyl was soooo hard, and that I would never get it and to just get cds. they were so wrong vinyl just takes a bit more practice at first. if you practice youll get a hang of it, so dont let anyone swing you on cd.

p.s. Cd is cool to get later after you get your tt's

oh golly...not another beginner post...i think we should construct some sort of sticky thread for something like this because there's a new beginner recommendation post every stinkin day....

btw.... Technics or don't buy anything else....so many people i talk to get pissed because they didn't buy tech's first off.
