Satan (eek!) Ziptnf - Taijitu **DOUBLE MIX** [uplifting/dark psytrance]

Hey all, back again this month with one of the most fun mixes I have ever done. This double mix is entirely based off two of the deepest of human emotions, represented by the Taijitu (literally "diagram of the supreme ultimate"). In the taijitu, everything acts as a whole, so one cannot exist without the other. That means if you download one of them, try to make sure you get the other one as well! Trust me, it's worth it.

Yang, the white element, is a mix with pure bliss, happiness, and joy. The ridiculously energetic uplifting mix will take you on a melodic journey that should definitely brighten your spirits. This mix was my first attempt at harmonic mixing. The first track is not psytrance, but is so absurdly happy, it had to be included.

Toby Emerson - Sleepless
Aquatica - Operatic
DNA vs Melicia - Indigo
Indra - Beat Burn
Perplex vs Sesto Sento - Music Generation
Intersys - Redstorm
Ephedrix - Lost in Velocity
Bizarre Contact - The Beach (System Nipel Remix)
Aquatica - Deep & Wild
Xerox & Passenger - Science is God (Ultravoice Remix)
Gataka vs Aquatica - Higher Level (Electro Sun vs Visual Contact Remix)
Electro Sun - Floating Out
Systemic - Fly On
Freaked Frequency - Light Beams

Yin, the dark element, is a mix that starts off right in your face, and progresses by warping and twisting your brain, until you finally lose your mind, represented by the last track "Becoming Insane" by Infected Mushroom. I had a lot of fun with this mix too.

Xerox & Illumination - Creature of the Night
Dizzy Mind - White Noise
Insomnia - Sequence Select
Xerox & Illumination - Virtual Violence
Burn In Noise - Ready to Rock
Azax Syndrom & Ultra Voice - Test Flight
Dark Nebula ft. Twisted System - Delicious
Mekkanikka - Micro Revolution
Cortex vs Chemical Trolls - Trapped In Bass
Toxic - White Magic
Broken Toy - Fragile
Phatmatix - Beyond Reality
Infected Mushroom - Becoming Insane

As always, let me know if you take a listen, and tell me what you thought of it!

Since this is a double mix, and not everyone has 3 hours to sit around and listen to both, you can review one at a time, just as long as you enjoy it! Thanks a lot!

Gonna check those out whenever I have some spare time!

DL now...

Posted by ziptnf on Apr-12-2009 21:52:

Excellent. Let me know what you thought!

Taking a listen myself, I think both mixes are pretty well rounded, super energetic, minimal cheesy vocals, and a large range of happy melodies and trippy sounds. I thought my transitions were fairly solid for the most part, but what do I know?

Posted by ziptnf on Apr-14-2009 17:52:

Bump. I take it nobody likes psytrance

Where are my boys, Domesticated and kr00t0n?

Posted by Adam420 on Apr-14-2009 20:57:

Well I'm not really into psytrance anymore but I have some friends who are,
so I'll pass your mixes on to them and see what they had to say since you
do seem to take your psy quite seriously so I'm thinking it will be good

Heh, thanks man, I do take it fairly seriously... as long as 1 person enjoys it, I am happy

Lonely bump...

I think it's a lot better than the silence says, Yang has stuff that everyone should like, regardless of taste. Very happy and energetic. Yin is the mix for the brave souls

Well the dark psytrance mix isn't terribly darkpsy at all but I'll try it out.

I didn't intend to make it "darkpsy", because most of that stuff creeps me out. After the Burn in Noise track it becomes some seriously dark psytrance, but not darkpsy. Maybe a future dark mix may have some of that junk in there

whats the difference between dark psy and dark psytrance?

A lot of darkpsy can be really fast, pointless garbage like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSew9BaNP78

Other darkpsy tracks can be slower, but still not the style I was looking for in this mix. This track may not have been too out of place toward the end, but not exactly my favorite style to mix:

The type of music available in Yin could probably be generalized as dark full-on, or night full-on, but best described as dark psytrance.

That wasn't the best track, although certainly reasonably listenable after the 1 minute mark (despite being inacessable)

Decent fast (170bpm is this case) darkpsy: Furious-Quantize

More regular 150ish bpm (I can't quite remember) stuff:

Dark soho isn't really darkpsy either. I mean its psy and its dark... but I guess its too melodic in the traditional sense, doesn't use fx in the darkpsy way and its a lot more psy tekk imo. Doesn't qualify as darkpsy, similar to say Infected mushroom-The gathering or The Delta sortof stuff. Idk how to explain, I mean darkpsy covers a whole range of stuff, but I don't really think thats hard enough.

Dark full on is stuff like dark nebula, and azax syndrome i.e. stuff thats a cross between darkpsy and full on, not full on in a dark mood, like some XI, although obv the second mix crosses both.

Exactly. From track 1-5 in Yin is nothing but full on artists with some of their darkest tracks, referring more to the atmosphere the track creates and the type of sounds used. Tracks 6-12 are all dark full on artists like Azak Syndrome, Broken Toy, etc. Those guys don't produce much regular full on, but tend to produce darker, more psychedelic tracks that are crossed with full on like Darkarbiter pointed out.

Honestly, if I were to mix another dark set (give me like... 4 more months lol... do I smell Return of Taijitu?) it would start with dark full on and progress into darkpsy and create the mosted twisted atmosphere possible.

Darkarbiter, I'd be really interested in hearing what you think of Yin. Hope everything bangs like it should, let me know what you think!

Lol, the original names for my Premonitions Light/Dark mixes were going to be Yin/Yang

I've been away for the past 2 weeks, downloading Yin now

Yeah, it's not too clever, but I noticed nobody had done it yet, so why not go on and use that idea?

Also, DOWNLOAD YANG TOO, you can't have one without the other!

Finally got around to listening to these.

I think they are better than your previous efforts. Of the two, I preferred the Yang; that was a bit more my style. Favourite tracks were Help The Situation and Ready To Rock. I really like Burn In Noise.

Good work!

Excellent, thanks for the listen! I was wondering if anyone from TA had listened to it yet

I will be honest, I prefer Yang to Yin, just because it's more easy listening, happy, and fun. Don't get me wrong, I think Yin is really cool but I can't leave it on repeat in my car like I can with Yang

I noticed the two favorite tracks you picked were probably the most psychedelic ones of the two. Yin has really twisted tracks following Ready to Rock but that track starts it all off. Good choice!

Take it easy and thanks for the listen! When are you gonna release a new set?
