Review: DJ Preach @ Vola Nightclub - Apr. 10, 09
Amazing tech trance, he was going full speed the whole night with a few break downs. His mixing and technical skills are spectacular, a lot of neat little tricks.
More later, had a lot to drink lol
now that was one fucking helluva party

edit: PurpleHaze
arf!
Preach kept all 40 of us busy.
music was super meh.
AMAZING music last night!!!
Barry started with a great opening set
and Preach was absolutely stellar, tech trance at its finest!! His mixing was really, really good, I was quite pleasantly surprised! Some great tracks dropped last too...Not Enough Time, Riff <3, New York City, Mono, I can't even recall but it was pure deliciousness. We stayed for only the start of MO's set (he was playing some nice techno tunage) but the vibe was completely lost when Preach left the decks. Shame it wasn't overall that busy, but more space for us to dance (and it almost felt like a private party!). Great crew of people out for this one, we danced up a storm.
Oh, and nice to meet you Nat! I hope your weekend in Toronto was what you were missing and hoping for!
Preach was good...as always. I was expecting more Techno though
Highlight was hearing some of "where the streets have no name" just as I was leaving. It was quite serendipitous to say the least.
Nice seeing you Nat - you likely have a quite a few hilarious videos on that cam!
I seriously hate all of you. Vince, thanks for the super rub-it-in-texts

Cribs, did u get an ass pic??

ahhhhhhh such a good night!!!!
The Good
-Fun with TAs
-Preach's technical skills. Max Graham is about the only other DJ who's good at knob fiddling as Preach. Though if you're a techno DJ, you should be pretty darn technically proficient
-Preach set being more fun once I got over that he's not going to play techno
The Bad
-hardly any hard techno tunes
The Ugly
-everytime Preach plays a bad vocal trance, techno gods kill a kitten
-sing a long to As the Rush Comes
I thought Preach played a similar style as Schulz, if a bit harder. Lots of fun tracks. But for the love of god, I am going to kill myself if I hear Durand abomination of Madagascar one more time.
Dunno what to make of it one of the highlight of the set was Riff... What is this, 2007?
Vola was pretty fun times for me, as usual.
So random running into Jay just as I was leaving lol.
And Nat makes people realize why making each hug counts is good. <3 Nat
PS: Mark Oliver rocks for dropping Marc DePulse - PS You Rock (Spektre remix). Techhouse tuuuuuuune!
oh yeah. Jenn not showing up for Preach
4. Special Fail
-Serious effects on activities and systems
-Will cause the story of the failure to be told and re-told for many months

First time checking out Preach. Expectations weren't too high, and he played a solid set for me. Exactly what I needed. Hearing some older cheesier tracks were great too, because unlike everybody else, I rarely attend trance events so I don't get to hear them live as often.
Some pretty great tech trance tracks were dropped. I'm not a Deadmau5 fan, but I love Deadmau5 - Clockwork (Cosmic Gate Remix). Great hearing it live again. Barry's opener was pleasing to hear.. Oliver dropped some nice old school Detroit sounding tunes, but unfortunately the vibe was dead by then.
All in all a fun night! Lots of shenanigans!
