not to give you a big head or anything but i seriously appreciate how much you contribute to MD. you've introduced me to a ton of music that i would've never researched and educated myself with had you not posted shit like this. d/ling

This looks interesting. DL'ing.

Really looking forward to hearing this, always nice to have a little change of scenery.

And plus one to what Omega said, so much stuff I would never have heard of if it wasn't for you. :p

the fact that you share it in the first place is refreshing. honestly there's so much hating and elitism, and imo horrible taste in music that it's hard to sift through the shit in MD, if you catch my drift.

for example, myra's "who's bringin the funk" thread has shared so much music with others that have little knowledge of that style of house- we need more threads like that.

cool I love disco

I remember when I was a kid during long road trips my dad would just play all of his 70s disco CDs and I loved every one of them.

Posted by daphunky1 on Apr-16-2009 10:06:

Love disco dude, such a feel good sound. I'm nnt sure what to expect exactly out of this set, but I'm excited to find out.

Posted by Aaron C. on Apr-16-2009 18:18:

So far from what i've heard of it this is a very classy and soulful mix. Thanks for sharing.

Posted by bigsnail on Apr-16-2009 18:44:

Posted by nefardec on Apr-16-2009 19:05:

Joe Thomas - Platos Retreat (Adam Vana Dub Version)

Holy tits on wheels, this mix is sexy. I would love to hear this live.

Posted by PoisonJam19 on Apr-17-2009 00:46:

This is sounding pretty good. I wish dude didn't talk over it though...

Regardless, I think I'll put this on when people come over tonight for drinks!

Posted by Floorfiller on Apr-17-2009 01:38:

this mix is too good. true he is playing edits, but programming disco is a pain in the ass...it wasn't designed to sound / transition this smooth. great set...

Posted by woscar on Apr-17-2009 06:11:

Yes, thanks for sharing Adam. I don't think I've ever heard a single track on that list except for the Barry White song

Haven't heard that mix, but since Kirk mixed it, it's probably awesome.

I absolutely love Kirk DeGiorgio, he's one of those unsung hereoes of techno who's underservedly disregarded in every discussion about the most influential people of the genre. He is, together with Michael Golding and Steve Rutter of B12, the first producer who brought techno to UK (and Europe in general), and the first who started to interpret Detroit techno in his own way. He's mostly unknown because the labels he had been releasing on (ART, Likemind, B12) are long dead and music of them is pretty much unobtainable these days.

There's an hour and a half long interview with him on Red Bull Academy site where he explains his life story to a bunch of people who probably don't even know who is he, and it's a pretty interesting thing to watch since he explains how he got in touch with techno, describes his trips to Chicago and Detroit and work with Derrick May and Photek, showcases his skills in Ableton... He also mentions that he grew up on his aunt's (or grandma's) disco records so this mix is probably some kind of tribute to that times.

thank you, on the same tip

this is a bit more deeper, there is some disco influence aswell; specially on the first cut.
