The Guvernment Area.
Hey, i am new! i was referred here by some friends a while ago, but really got into it recently..
I am sure many of you have noticed that the area around guv. has been city approved for new zoning licenses. The area was previously industrial use only. The city of Toronto has approved the construction of residential buildings in the area as the property has been now zoned for residential use (i assume).
With this in mind does it not seem feasible to conclude that the Guvernment Complex may be at risk for imposed sanctions?...
im sure skybar and perhaps The Tent (during LOL) will be someway affected..
I heard guvernment is closing and they'll be building condos there.

Conquest Vacations had a major stake in the INK conglomerate, and it was the last nail in the coffin.
imposed sanctions= more security, quiet hours, elimination of sidewalk lineups (or taxed sidewalks), light and sound limiters.
This is not a question of whether or not the Complex will be allowed to remain open, as the City has no authority to close and establishment on the grounds of new residential areas. It is their right to maintain a business within the community.
The entertainment district is a prime example. The area was originally a commercial area sold for private use. Today, it has become one of Toronto's BIA's, thus the introduction of public-private partnerships. The sidewalks are now maintained- and even taxed by the community. New rules are implemented to maintain order (no-loitering signs thrown up everywhere, new parking rules, noise and light reduction guidelines etc.)
I guess i wasn't clear enough on my point. but ye, any thoughts on what changes may occur...or should i shut the fuck up and enjoy the rest of corstens countdown?

| Originally posted by Jayx1 Id rather own property. Property is tangible and you have full control over it (Until the government passes too many laws that is) Condos are under control of your whiney neighbours in the form of a board. Plus you pay condo fees on top of taxes all for a concrete box. And you dont even own the concrete, you own the air in between it. No thanks! |
