who here has a job

A serious question here.
How many of you actually have a job as a DJ?

I don't, still stuck in my bedroom.

Cool

I don't, I want one, but I'm gettin a job as a crappy gay type DJ who does kiddy parties etc. but I hope to give out me demo to some other DJs who will take me on for my good skills

I don't have a job, never looked for a job but I've done a number of gigs.

Once I get a TT I think I will start doing gigs... if by job you mean residency then I've got some time...

Posted by Tak on Jun-16-2002 11:58:

As the question stands it doesn't matter if it's a residency or just gigs. The only gigs I've had have been my own house parties, not a proper gig but theey rocked.

Yeah man it kinda blows (I'm 15 so I should know...) but the fun is trying to teach them respect to stuff that isn't a hit or just bangin... Hang in there, I slowly notice more and more people are getting smarter, musically.

I've spun a several house parties and at a rave in Pittsburgh, but then when I started hitting it off with my promoter connections, I moved to indianapolis for a real job out of college with a Pharmaceutical company I figured that I could make a whole lot more at the time opting for the guarenteed paycheck then trying to be a starving dj. I've submitted my demo to a couple clubs out here, but there isn't much of a scene for trance

I dj for about 8 years (in the same club), but retired back in '98. It was fun, but I would never want to get back into it.

as most here already know i have gigs, but do it as a hobby.

i was sooooo pissed last weekend!
my car broke down on the way to this gig:

3000 guests and my spot was from 1:15 am to 2:30 am.
I never made it there, got no money and now my car is only a piece of junk
shit happens!

by the way Dawn, what about those playmates shown on the right? Were they part of the dance team

Residency?... in a while, maybe.

Nice chicks there, DjDawn

I've been djing in a mobile discotheque for almost 2 years now. I've got a couple of gigs coming up soon for the peeps who graduate. I'm 17 myself, still attending high school.
I've been promised a chance for a residency in a new club here in Copenhagen, but I'm in no hurry ... guess I've gotta be realistic about this thing.
But who knows..? I'll be 18 soon .... wish me luck

Smiley DJ persistence :o)

I've been djing for 4 years, (im 20). Started out as a bedroom banger and moved up slowly from there. Ive been a mobile dj as well as a club dj over here in Sydney. But i dont pursue Djin as anything more than a hobby. Getting paid for this is only a benefit compared to the satisfaction of being recognised for your skillz, being in control of a mad crowd, and living your passion. Get out there, send off afew mix CD's, get recognised!!! It's not easy but if you hang in and be persistent you'll get a break.

Rave and Misbehave but never fade

I used to be a mobile DJ until the company I worked for went to shit..I ran away.

Now, im basement only, BUT I do have an outstanding offer for a residency @ a club 8 hours away. Its not worth it to play pop, and even worse, COUNTRY!
