The future cheese sound of Trance. Your thoughts.
Hi all,
We all know the cheesy sound of trance, the typical supersaw sound , the supersaw arp , the supersaw pluck that occurs in 84% of most trance songs , the typical saw pad and all..
I was wondering , what would the cheesy sound of trance be in the next decade?
SuperSquares?
Sine Plucks?
PWM Pads?
Your thoughts are welcomed..
it's all been used and it's all been recycled
but the possibitlities are endless so noumerous variations will keep on coming

when it comes to cheese id never know, its the most unpredictible genre there is imo beacuse its always some leader leading it and some fans following it making acts like resonanse amplifying itself.
FUCKIN LOVE SUPERSAW + SUPERSAW ARP + SUPER SAW PLUCKS
Like you actually want people discussing forcasting the next waveform used for cheesey music, as if the waveform hasnt been discovered yet? This...needed to be a thread?
Its not about the waveform , its more about the sound that will become chesse in the next decade..
And thinking again , supersaws really are great .. they are kinda like electric guitars for rock music... and electric guitars have been around for a long long time..
Drums, sub bass and analog will be cheesy
Hi-Mids, snares and crackling noizes will be cool. As wll scratching done with a jacket zipper, all by 2015 I swearz
I feel as if trance is going to start borrowing sounds from DnB in higher amounts, get ready for wobbly basslines to the max and the death of melodic stuff that is going to make way for a lot of really techy stuff.
seems everyone thinks dnb and breaks will be more present in trance like before. cant wait im already on that waggon cause advanced fast rhytms rock!

I am becoming more and more convinced as time progresses that there will be no "next decade" Here is a track I just made explaining what I expect music to be like in 10 years... note though that it will be a lot better than this example.. lots of accoustic.. and sensory encasement.. eg. music with vr "re last days.." http://williamashley.info/mp3/10yearslater_8.mp3 picture underworld meets mao tze. but like much better there.. will be tons and tons and tons of music which outshines music of today.. much like music of today outshines a large chunk of music of yesteryear. much more fine grained... that is if there is a reality in "10 years" I have odds against myself to be here. there will probably be a flip between high energy and really really really mellow classical accoustic music. as people flock to two groups... but looking at the "upcoming" there isn't much room for drastic change. here is a slow verison http://williamashley.info/mp3/10yearslater_8slow.mp3 and here is the really slow version http://williamashley.info/mp3/10yea...8reallyslow.mp3 people will have no need to be mobile except for recreation as machines skulpt and create humans to an image of "whatever" people start sporting alternate bodies instead of tatoes etc.. creating a whole new breed of music for dance not only for two legs but 12 sex as an alternative to orgami also becomes more creative. watch a bunch of anime, hentai etc.. for more info on this. |

Interesting timing - I just posted a new song and, as expected, several young, new, and unknown producers on another forum told me to get rid of my "cheesy" supersaw lead. My reaction - just what I wanted to hear because I've learned over the years that other producers are not my target audience and usually (but not always) when they tell me that something is cheesy, that my dance music-loving friends and other non-producers who hear it will at least like it, if not love it.
Young producers are so caught up with the notion that everything has to be "original" and "new" that they fail to realize that (a) nothing they are doing is original, new, or trend-setting, and (b) the majority of non-producers don't care. Think about it - how often do you hear something that is totally original, doesn't sound like some out-of-this-world trash, and can fill a dance floor? Almost never?
The death of the supersaw has been foretold for many years, but it still seems to keep on thriving - that's no accident, my friends. To me, the supersaw is the glue that binds the cheesy genre known as trance together, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I say embrace it and focus on what you can do with it, not what you can't, and don't worry about what other producers think (unless they're your target audience).
Viva la supersaw!

Thus , we producers think supersaws as cheesy , but non-producers actually like it alot!
