t-mobile g1 users [help]

is there any way to delete text messages via pc link up?

i have one person with 3000 text messages (fail) and it's taking forevveerrr to delete, and one by one just won't work

is there any way to do it other than formating the internal memory? could i possibly export my contacts to sd and back it up on my pc, then, format and import my contacts back to my internal card, or does that require another sd?

merci

I am pretty sure there is a "thread" delete function, but I can't remember now (I don't own one, a friend does)

From another website:

"Try downloading Txtract from the G1 Market. It's listed under 'tools'. Use this application to save the text messages you've been hoarding to your SD card, then delete the text messages from your phone. Your G1 will work like new again! "

Downloading an application to mass delete texts is better than just mass deleting texts?

The app doesn't delete them. It moves them from internal memory to sd card so you can save them.

yeah but u guys obviously don't have a g1.

If you have a crap load of texts your phone will freeze if u try to delete them. Anytime someone's thread reaches 100 - I delete it.

You just gotta deal with the freezing and eventually the phone will delete all threads.

Are you all fucking retarded?

Click on messaging to get to your list of text message threads.

Find the thread with 3000 text messages.

Press it and hold your finger down for 2 seconds.

You get a 2 option menu: "View" and "Delete".

I'm sure you can figure out the rest.

It is a good phone for consumers, but if you rely on corporate stuffs and BT transfers, you should wait. It does not have any exchange support as of yet, and the only use for BT is for a handsfree headset.

Also, battery life is abysmal if you have too much stuff on.

Overall it is good, but there are some little things that suck but you get used to.
