-- When is Election day in Canada?

Soon ... Conservatives are losing their grip on the throne. Right now the Libs have several points up on Harper. Ignatieff sounds like a great fella, a son of a family of Russian aristocrats, strong lineage. Read about them. He'll be a great PM.

My guess is that the next budget won't pass.

The liberal tactics are to let the economy finish it's down slide to be sure that it is very clear that Harper is responsible for the problems and then to strike when a recovery can start to be considered.

I know that the Liberal leadership was considering stopping the last budget and that one of thier considerations was if the Conservatives had underestimated the depth of the problems (which I think they did).

I think that one of the considerations is that if things do get really really bad there is a real posibility of a Liberal majority next election.

He's got to be a bit less aristocratic though. Canadians don't like blue blood in thier leaders.

Not saying that he wouldn't be good, right now he's the best man for the job, just that being a little more human would go a long way around the country. Take a look at the two popular Canadian shows "Little Mosque on the Prarie" and "Corner Gas".

It might also be intersting to see how the Liberal party shifts with him at the helm. I think the offical leadership convention is comming up soon (or is right now). From that point on there will be a new president of the party as well as a new leader. A lot of the other staffers could be changing too.
