I really can't understand people who, in this day and age, are still asking other people for recommendations (especially when the subject is house, which is not that obscure type of music). There's literally a ton of sources on the net related to subject and everything Nerfadec recommended (and more) could have been found with just a few hours research, plus you'd get that "I found it myself" feeling (and many more interesting informations along the way) which is priceless really.
What Adam said +
Paul Johnson
Armand Van Helden
Demon
Maw
some Eddie Fowlkes
Todd Terry
Todd Edwards
Jesse Sounders
Cajmere
DJ Sneak
Henry Street shit
Trax shit
old school Strictly Rhythm shit
Cajual shit
Relief shit

....... sift thru some of those sets.

Learning from others is pretty much the best thing you can get from an internet forum such as this one. Adam is a guy that takes his music seriously and it's evident to anyone who is familiar with him that he has spent countless hours digging on record stores, both physical and virtual. I respect him a lot for that, and value his knowledge greatly. If anyone wants to learn about early electronic music, I'd say he's the man to go to around here. Are you saying that he should die with that knowledge? |

| Originally posted by Domesticated If this thread had been about "trance music that sounds like Armin van Buuren?", would your response have been the same? I'd be more inclined to help the person looking for cheesy trance, because it's obvious they don't know how to find what they're looking for. The person looking for old school house is more likely to have discovered other channels in my opinion. |

def jam, hard wax and such.
i'm gay like that.
Here`s some my favourites, more like late/mid 90`s but I`ll hope they fit. . .
Also recommend stuff from Rick Wade. Specially tracks from Late Night Basix Vol. 1
Aye, Chicago-house makes me gay too, f-llaaaming
It could also be that i inherited my uncles vinyl collection (he was a dj in chicago when he attended school there) and it is what got me liking electronic music at a young age
