Coming May 2009 - Spundae Returns to San Diego
good news! looks like more SD trips for me.
interesting choice of locations as these are more of what the lata's would call "boogie hollywood clubs" (area, green door etc)
wonder what night(thursday makes sense due to their events on friday in SF, and in LA Saturday)
and giant/eventvibe having friday events at spin.
in the end, more competition is great for us!
YEAHHHH BOYYYYY!!!!
dont care for san diego but book digweed in SF already!!!!!!
and cattaneo as mixed elements is lagging on his return...
that's great news!
Good news, wonder who the Spundae residents here will be. hmm...
Glad to see another proper dance crew coming to San Diego's reviving and thriving dance scene.

what great news, I always love to party in sd. its a great city. And of course spundae is going to do it proper no matter the venue the chose
YOu never know what influence Spundae will have...
I say this because..
1. When Spundae went over to Ruby, Ruby was basically entirely house & electro bookings....Spundae brought in the trance. And the whole presence of Ruby int he city changed. I hated that dman place, but it grew on me as the crowd and the music changed. Oh yeah, and they soudn system. And Ruby actualyl somewhat enforced a dresscode there back then too. I I've been with people not allowed in because they were wearing jeans with a t-shirt (even though it was a nice t-shirt) because it wasn't with nice shoes.
2. When the coalition of promoters at Avalon changed (and Spundae became a part of it) Avalon went from having trance DJs to it being a policy to not having trance DJs.
Anyhow, ya never know.
Dave! I have a question and sent you an email!
I think its a shame that if the company comes back, they don't look to other talent than just locals that have been around for a while.
I understand the business sense of using them, but there are so many DJs that have good talent and great music that don't get gigs because of politics and whatnot. I'm not just saying that because I'm one of the guys looking to step up and bring good music to venues and groups in San Diego... I'm saying it because I see great talent who gets to sit a twiddle their thumbs because of politics when they have releases on Worldwide recognized labels and are successful otherwise.
It's just a shame to see the same 5 guys at every club event every month. That's all I'm saying. People need to be given more chances.
Tip #1: Network
Tip #2: Network
Tip #3: Network
The thing about just about an local DJ who gets booked is that they first network with the right people. They don't bombard it, but go through the right avenues to get to the know the right people who will spend time listening to a demo mix and stuff.
Also, the ability to show you can draw your own crowd helps...and being good helps too.
Tip #6: Network
Tip #7: Network
Anyhow, just saying this of my own accord and not as a rep of any organization. I just suggest you work on networking with the right people who can lead to you to meet the right people.
