Good times.
Agreed, that was an incredible night. My only complaint is that it didn't last another three hours. I'm a little shocked at the low turnout, though. At around 2:00am, it seemed that the crowd wasn't even 1/3 as dense as Armin's, even though the patio was open during AVB's Wednesday show. What's with that? I enjoyed the extra breathing room, but I don't want Schulz to avoid Atlanta next year. I also enjoyed Schulz's sets (this year and last year) over Armin's. Strange, since I generally prefer Armin's productions and radio shows.
And, likewise, nice meeting all of you. I'm still not seeing the glasses, though.
Really?
You totally look like you're wearing glasses in that avatar to your left...damnit...maybe I'm just blind lol

Looks like it was a good night. Sorry to flake, was in a car accident and was really not feeling up to it. Will have to catch ya'll on another night maybe Second Sun, Josh Gabriel or Rank 1.

But ya...I love that fucking tracklist man...Matt was asking me what the first few songs were, but I didn't know them, but that's because they're still listed as "id - id" in the GDJB's and live sets and what not haha. I'm sure Markus will be back in the future though. This was about the same size crowd he saw last September and he came back 7 months later...so... I expect him to make a pretty big splash in the DJMag rankings at the end of the year too, so going forward in 2010, he'll probably get even more exposure. His Dakota album he's releasing in a few months is going to be huge. |
yeah, that spot of light next to your head in the avatar does make it look like you might have glasses on calamar. haha, i guess i'm the one that might need to get glasses!
well, thursday night was super fun on many different levels. i thought schulz's set was awesome... no lulls in track selection (no fluff). he just kept pouring it on. the middle to the end of his set, i was in heaven. even when i felt like i might not be able to dance anymore, the stuff he was playing was so sick that i had to keep moving. totally insane. of course, i'm not very good at id'ing tracks, so i wish i could be more descriptive. which, james, you did an awesome job at staying on top of that. when you turned to me and said "BIG SKY!" i was like oh shit! even though i couldn't id myself, obviously i've heard that track enough to know that there was going to be a huge release of energy on the dance floor!!!
that brings me to another reason why the night was so kick ass! meeting some of the TAs was super fun. james, zach, and calamar, what a fun time we had to see markus together. good times man! i mean markus WAS on fire, and to have had an opportunity to meet y'all in such an environment was totally grand. it made an excellent night of beats that much better. definitely looking forward to other shows and catching up.
and, i think aside from getting a chance to see markus, and some of my fellow TAs, the venue wasn't as packed. that extra dancing room was huge!!! i loved it! completely different crowd vibe than from the armin show. wow. i suppose that could have been presumed anyway, but i remember thinking how much different and better i was feeling at markus than when i was at armin. personally, markus' set imo was hands down superior to armin's. no contest. the intensity of that harder tech-trance at the end was the bomb.
what an all-around excellent experience. also, it was super cool to debrief with james and zach after the show. next time, weather permitting, it will be fun to pre-game before the show!
certainly looking forward to it.
Well this was a fun little night. I loved the fact that there was room to breathe and move around. The trance wasn't too cheesey, so I was able to dig the music.
Sorry I didn't make any attempt to meet anyone, I was feeling kinda anti-social and stuck with my group.

Well, I'm definitely taking a break from going out until Rank 1 at the earliest...
But ya, the tracks Markus played are all my style of trance...
I was fucking ecstatic when he went from Perfect to This is Silence...
And I wish it had been a bit more crowded, but the free space really let me get into the music.
Like Armin played a really good set too, but I couldn't get into it because of the constant motion of the crowd and what not.
Many of the same tunes he played in charlotte. I enjoyed the fuck out of his set here, and it looks like you guys did as well. The guy is truly epic. I think he's the best trance dj on the planet in all honesty.

I think he played a better set last fall. I didn't stay the whole time but the track order was off...he sounded more like Armin does in ATL
Next time I guess. GDJB w/ Solarstone was a sick one tho...
While this thread is still going...
Anyone know this track ID?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2qE...re=channel_page
It was one of his very first tunes.. I feel like I've heard it before. Someone ID this quickly before I lose my mind.
It's being called
ID (Track 02 from Aerobar WMC Set)
ID (track 05 from ASOT 400 Set)
etc. etc.
He's been playing it a lot lately, but it's being left a mystery.
I think it's one of his Dakota songs.
And while we're at it, iirc, these are two of the "ids" as well:
Jester Music ft. Lavoie - Dressed in White (Markus Schulz Coldharbour Remix)
Cosmic Gate - Sign of the Times (Markus Schulz Coldharbour Remix)
I got some great video from the show and made a full video of the highlights of the show.
From the samples there I'm glad I didn't go
