organizing your vsts

alright, so i'm cleaning up my vst folder by throwing the fx in the fx folder & instruments in the instruments folder.

my question is, is there a way to keep your reverbs, compressors, delays, & such in categories in the vst list of a daw?(preferably fl studio)

i've ran into a couple of banks where the basses, leads, etc were neatly categorized & i was wondering if i could do the same for my fx's & instruments

FLStudio 8 has a visual vst bank thingy, personally I have not messed with it. but it may help with what you want. I am currently not using FLStudio atm so I cannot check how to access it.

I don't know about FL, but with Cubase, you can just drag your *.dll files around to organize them (make a back-up first though, just in case).

if i ever start with VST id have everything in one folder. everything would probably just be a few synths, a drummachine and some effex so not really any need for huge "organizations".

In ableton live you can just arrange stuff in folders via windows explorer...

Sonar has the Plugin Manager, which allows you to easily find and organize your plugins, tell it how to display them, create custom menus/templates, format the settings for things like tempo-based effects, etc. It's a fantastic and under-appreciated feature. Also, once you've inserted synths into a project, Sonar has a Synth Rack for instant access to all synths in your project.
