Lets all get together to raise funds for a night then

Well to be honest this idea seems to be just a dream

If we all put money into this, we could afford a good club night. And we could even end up making enough money out of it to run another night, reinvested profit

Anyway apparently there r 50 or sommit UKTA's hehe. Well if 20 of us got together and put a bit of money in, and used Wicked_Neo's contact we could get this idea off the ground.

But i bet you cant be arsed. Hmmm shitty job, or if it all goes very well us running a night club, heh

So can we please try and get sommit sorted

First off djs, and kit, well i know of 5 or 6 memembers who would dj, and would bring kit. So that is sorted.

Now it is really down to location, time of event, and money

So any ideas?????

Posted by burns on Jun-17-2002 13:29:

Well i would chip in. I would spin but my kit is not industry standard I bet some one has 1210`s out there. Sounds like a sweet idea though

Posted by evil_bastard on Jun-17-2002 13:43:

I think somewhere central like Leeds would be a good location for everyone.

In the last few months my academic qualifications have gone out of the window, so I'm now looking for a job and a place of my own. I'll have to stick my name on the council list and look for a job, but getting a job in Newcastle isn't easy, which is why I'd like to move out of the area anyway. I don't know the best way to do that, maybe get a crappy job in WH Smiths or whatever, transfer to another branch and then find accomodation in another city to get me set up. I am pretty much a free man so I could help out in all the menial tasks.

Is everybody actually up for this idea, as I'd love to see something happen out of this, even if it failed just to have a shot at it.

Posted by flystyler on Jun-17-2002 13:44:

For example for location: A pubby club in my area, capacity of 300 people would cost 120 quid, but that is with djs and bouncers.

So it would b even cheaper, coz they jsut want the bar money.

So we have a few posibilites

Posted by evil_bastard on Jun-17-2002 13:49:

What needs to be sorted so far? I can think of:

# Licensing

# Location

# Dj's

# Kit

# Money

# Participants

That's all I can think of so far, but there's bound to be more.

Idea

i would be willing to help out in the future, but not right now, or for the next say 2-3 months, coz you all must know now of my monitary shortcomings. id help out with trying to make people come or whatever, jsut nothings that involves money atm, hehe.

Posted by flystyler on Jun-17-2002 15:46:

Hmmm, this looks like it is going to go the same way as every other thread on this subject. Oh and licencing is not a problem, its not like we will b open till 4am

The venue should ahve that, we just need money, a place and people

Posted by Miss Proximus on Jun-17-2002 17:32:

just try to find a venue that won't let you pay rent as long as the beverage turnover is high enuf

have some TA djs play and that's it

TA party in the making

would there be a chance that we could make use of 1 room in a club that has 2 or 3 rooms??

No offence but i dont think PVD will be in the country, armin van buuren will be washing his hair, and tiesto will be banging his misses in north japan.

So why would we need 3 rooms

Yeah i am hoping somoen will know a club big enough that will just be willig to take the increase in beer money.

So get searching

Posted by Dave_Masters on Jun-18-2002 07:26:

I think some proper research needs to be done, into how much a venue would cost. Then we can talk proper figures.

If it was done well we could make enough money to make profit.

But i doubt anyone has the equipment for this sort of thing. Yeh sure loads of us have technics. But decks and a mixer isnt the prob. Its having an idustry standard Amp and Big bastard speakers.

I would Dj though...

what i ment fly was that a average club in leeds has 3 rooms, and on a saturday nite they have cheese in room 1, dance/trance in 2 and either rock etc or garage etc in rrom 3. Ive seen in the past that the club will close of one of the smaller rooms to the public (they still hold around 400 people) and let them have privte partys/business events/own club nites. so i just though that could be a idea thats all

Ahh right, i get ya now

hehe

Well i know there is nought down here, we want sommit around sheffield coz that is kinda central

Posted by Kinuvan on Jun-18-2002 16:17:

I'd do the asthetics. i.e. lights etc.

but you would need some kind of licence no matter how long you're open for because it's a public event.
Advertising the thing would be problematic, INTERNET only advertising will NOT work.

risk of cheesifying is high, we're gonna wanna pull a cyber crowd really, and that'll be hard.

There will be more overheads than you think, it goes without saying.

to be honest how many of us would actually be buying drinks in there apart from a bottle of water?

well if you think about it, what were trying to do is like a private birthday party, all we gotta to is get the money together say its a "fancy dress birthday party" and your sorted. theres even places round here (although posh places they are) who let you charge on the door for peopel to come to your party, two p[eople i knew made 250 quid each, although profit isnt really the object here. think about it were not exactly trying to create a gatecrasher, it would be like a get together now and then, and if you think about it as an actual party rather than some ventrue, it is as easily doable as a birthday party por whatever, and we wont even be paying for some balding fat man to play britney spears on his cd deck!

Yes keep that to yourself.

Oh and toby stop ruining the dream, there arent that many overheads, this thursday im going to a mates party in hamdens, kinda pubby club place, it can hold 300 people, and it will cost 120 quid for the night, 8pm till 1.30am

So no there isnt a huge overheads, we dont need fancy lights, they supply the sound system, and the decks as well

So really this doesnt have to cost much

Next year we will be having 6th form parties to raise money for our proms, like the upper 6th did this year, and we will be doing this kinda thing.

So your overheads are 120 quid, and making tickets, that is it.

So we could make a little bit of money out of it as well, for a future party.

This is all well thought out on my part

We just need a venue, like the one near me, but in like sheffield

So chesterfield lot, get hunting
