Exclamation IPhone 4G vs iPhone 4G which one would you pick?

iPhone 4G + At&t

VS

iPhone 4G + Verizon wireless

source:

I had about 2drop calls with iPhone 3G this wekend,
If I can use my iPhone with no drop call, that's a winner!

What do u think?

Posted by R!CH on Apr-28-2009 05:46:

you're replacing your 3g iphone because it dropped "about" 2 calls over the weekend? i think you need more things to fill out your day, but besides that what do dropped calls have to do with wireless data network technology?

the new one will.

if the rumors are true and they make a CMDA version for china and Europe it would only be a matter of weeks before they hack it for verizon.

Hey guys, what phone should I use? I'm posting from 5 years in the future if that helps, so only phones that are released around 2014 only please.

Fixed.

Apple said that they didnt want to invest in dead tech such as CDMA. They will most likely implement LTE in their next phone. Since everyone is supporting LTE/4g iphone for verizon is very likely.

oh and... blackberries FTW. The new niagra/tour is gonna be super bomb, and changing themes on my storm > iphone interface.

Europe and China use GSM, not CDMA. The only other country I know that uses CDMA is S Korea.

I never drop any calls with verizon, but at the same time..... verizon sucks because i cant just unlock a phone and use it with their stupid signal. inconvenient if you go out of the country.

It isn't as crazy as it sounds. According to a report by the Commercial Times apple will be launching three iPhones in June. First a 2.75g (edge like the original iPhone), an updated 3g, and a Chinese targeted CDMA version. The updated 3g phone is no surprise as we have already been expecting it for months.

The CDMA version is a direction Apple will have to go eventually if they want to put the iPhone on every network worldwide. If released possibly some hacking could put that CDMA phone on carriers like Verizon (who refused the iPhone originally).

The new edge version if it really is real would most likely be very similar to the original iPhone. In fact why not just pick up a 1st generation iPhone off of ebay ? I can't really see it as Apple's style to go backwards in product development but it could be a decent move if marketed as one of those phones that you get for free when signing a contact with a carrier -- fully subsidized.

Might as well throw in here that the Commercial Times report specifically denies the possibility of an iPhone nano. No mini iPhone for you!

You're making me look into it
72% of the world is GSM (84% if we include 3G)
Europe is almost exclusively GSM
China has both systems
3G GSM uses W-CDMA technology (which may be causing confusion)
