Love Beatport Rocks!

I have to say I am super impressed with beatport, I got a new pc and I was transferring my tracks from one HDD to the other and by mistake deleted my Dec 08 and Nov 08 folders. I emailed beatport and informed them that I have lost these folders and with in 15 min I had an email back from a rep called Tina saying that all my tracks are available for download again. I think this is the most efficient customer service I have ever received from any company. Beatport FTW!

until you need to ask for a refund because of clipping tracks

Similar thing happened to me, and I had the same result - very quick resolution. I've purchased quite a few tracks from them - but I'm definitely not digging the ever increasing appearance of 2.49 tracks - yikes

Yep, their support is very good. The only problem I have, is with the new layout. When you are listening to a track in your playlist, and perform a search, then hit enter...the clip restarts from the beginning.

Silly and frustrating. But, I guess if that's my biggest complaint then they aren't doing too bad.

(Please, if anyone knows...is there a way around this?)

send a msg to the tech support, they'll probably take care of it

Customer Service maybe, but layout can fuck right off.

Its not that bad once you know were things are.

They finally got the DJ mixes section up, which I like. Now only if they would stop charging extra for WAV, I would be happy.

Any time I've had an issue with track quality, either clipping or download issues, they taken care of the problem with either a redownload or a credit...

Good to know i'm not the only one that has the restarting issue in the playlist.

I know how to use it just fine, I just find it unfriendly and poorly executed. The old design was better IMO, much easier to use and none of that restarting business.

I agree the navigation is frustrating at times but, on the whole, the site serves as a quick avenue for accessing the latest in EDM Thumbs up for Beatport

Distortion in the track peak.. Often happens with kicks / cymbal crashes. Without getting too complicated, it's when the peak runs out of room and gets rammed to the ceiling.

yea with the old beatport, i had a crate full of about 200 or so worth of tracks but didnt want to buy all...they made a list of all my tracks for me in an excel sheet and sent it over (links to tracks included)

got a refund on a track that clipped

but im still waiting on 3 tracks for re download for a few months now because they didnt sync when transfering and a i lost them...still waiting...waiting...wait...ing..

Yeah, but I don't think the clipping we find in our Breatport tracks is from any production issue.......must be something to do with how they prep it for download. Every time I've done a redownload the track comes out fine after....

not only have i found clipping but even skips in the track (def not intentional on the production end)

Exactly, I even had a track that just cut out after 10 seconds before....but they fixed it....

I find more often than not it's ass-backwards and rushed mix engineering that causes distortion and clipping, not so much buggered downloads. I can't see how (unless it's the most remote of cases) re-downloading the same MP3 / WAV will make a difference in the sound quality.

Do you enjoy being overcharged? I know I don't. Haven't been back to Beatport since Juno introduced bulk pricing (i.e. buy the whole release, save some cash, and even pay less than a CD = mind-blowing concept, apparently).

ya, Juno Download is great -- loads of tunes that are not on beatport... Way too many people only stick to one store and miss a lot of quality music coming out. Not to mention how many non- "exclusive" releases get buried within beatport.

That's what I'm saying, the redownloads ARE better so it can't be from the original production, so it must be some kinda of upload/download issue. I'm sure there are some tracks where the mix down was done poorly and therefore have some clipping issues, I don't remember many of them though myself.

Also, the clipping I'm talking about isn't your typical peak clipping......it can be just a random clipping noise. That's another reason I assume it has to do with how Beatport is uploading/preparing a track for sale/download.

Oh i've never had a problem with tracks sounding distorted the only thing i've noticed is that once in a while a track reads 68 bpm when its really going at like 128.

This and a sharpie are your answer
