SOUND PROGRAMMING HELP - inpetto
this has probably been asked before but on which synth did inpetto create his sound in the toca me 08'
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FMlWSf-lGs
@ 1:33
it has almost a tinny sound...
is it possible to replicate in Thor, pro 53 , fm8, vanguard
or any of logics synths ? ?
even making a similar sound...
ive tried and tried and tried to make it on thore but havent got close...
ive heard a few artists use a very similar sound..
please let me know if you know how to make it or
are you talking about the high pitched string?
That sounds like just a vocal clip of her saying "shaaa" or something, drenched in FX, combined with a reverse open hi-hat, if I'm listening to the right part.
sorry i shud have specified better.. my bad..
the main lead sound..
the pluck .. most likely a couple of saws
or something..
it just sounds so real and when i try and mkae similar it sounds terrible...
Does'nt someone own the copyright to that sound? You have to license it.

2 saws detuned,
volume:
attack: 0
decay: 30%
sustain: 0
release to taste
filter:
attack: 0
decay: 30-40%
sustain: 0
release to taste
big verb, SIDECHAIN

the pluck actually sounds like a single square wave with PWM rather than two saws.
did this for a client... 2 saws just like how i said it.

I'm not sure which sound you/the original poster are refering to but I think the lead synth (hook) sounds closer to what i've suggested, sample below, made with powercore 01, one pulse osc with modified PWM.
fragma
do you know deadmau5? it's all about a "moog sound"... try a moog plugin or the moog synthie...
I emulated this sound using synth 1, and came close to the sound, ill link the patch when I go home tonight.

Is this the hook your refering to?

That was from the synth 1 patch I refered to earlier, In my opinion the sound itself isnt that close to the original, I think mine is a little too detuned.
Ill list you the specs of what I did.
OSC 1:
Triangle Wave (Tried it with a sawtooth wave here, and it sounds a little more accurate)
OSC 2:
Saw Wave, Pitch +12, Fine = 10, (I set it to 7 it sounds better @ 7)
I did a 60:40 on the Osc mixing, using very little PWM.
Amp:
Attack : 0
Decay: 83 (A little less couldn't hurt for a more pluck effect)
Sustain: 25
Release: 64 (This is more of a preference, especially for this sample, the release won't be heard unless the filter is turned up.)
Filter:
Attack: 0
Decay: 70
Sustain: 48
Release: 128
Mess around with the LFO settings, link it to OSC 1&2, I usually use a triangle for that, have the amount @ a supremely low amount, I usually stick to 1
and the speed around 64, and don't forget about unison.
Other then that, use sidechaining for when the kick comes in, hopefully this has been helpful and gives you some insight on the sound your looking for.
