New Propellerheads DAW (TBA)

Propellerheads Set To Enter Digital Audio Workstation Market
World Exclusive!

According to our sources in Sweden, Propellerheads will use their upcoming Producers Conference (see locations below) on May 9th to announce a new Digital Audio Workstation product. The Reason community has been clamoring for the Scandinavian concern to add a no-holds-barred audio recording feature into the product since it first debuted, but has never acquiesced. On May 9th, Propellerhead Softwares faithful will finally get what theyve been asking for, but will it be what they want?

Sounds good, but:

This will not be an update to Reason, which will retain its own product category, but will be a new standalone product that will have full-on audio recording capabilities.

UN.LUCKY.

Just what we need. ANOTHER DAW. Why don't they just release their instruments as VSTs and team up with ableton to give crossgrades of some sort? Use other manufacturers strengths to your own advantage?

It's one more thing kids can download in hopes of sounding professional.

Hey, competition is good. If propellerheads introduce some nifty new features in their DAW, all the other DAW manufacturers will copy it and put it into their products as well. As far as I'm concerned, the more competition, the sooner we get even better tools!

Have you guys checked this out http://www.presonus.com/products/So...x?SoftwareId=11

I am totally interested. 64bit audio engine. Interface looks sweet, and creator is a dude from Cubase I guess.

Actually, it's a team of creators , but yeah, two guys in that team where from the Steinberg team behind Cubase and Nuendo. I agree with you that this one looks awesome! It will be released this summer.

I knew it was something like that with the creators, couldn't remember too good, I was baked when I first watched the video But yea, I can't wait to try it out. I didn't realize it was gonna be this summer already but, I guess that makes sense, since they have the site all ready, and it even says on their site to find a dealer, so its gotta be soon. I hope they put a demo to try.

I want this DAW!!!!

I don't see myself switching to it, but it should be interesting to see. You've gotta expect that their new DAW will have VST support AND probably integrate seamlessly with Reason at a minimum, and possibly Rebirth, ReCycle, etc. as well.

Very interesting, curious about its eventual (and hopeful) support for VST and its pricing and UI.

Posted by Lolo on May-04-2009 18:02:

that DAW software MUST include REX2 style editing, as I think Recycle is way too old.

If they are putting out another Audio workstation, I'm sure they know what they're doing and that it will be good.

Reason is the only piece of software I always get back to with a smile, despite its price. Had some interesting tryouts not earlier than today in there

That is amazing, any word on a price point?

Good one.

I was actually wondering if it will be ReCord, since audio will be supported (but that would be a pretty lame name IMO).

Posted by Storyteller on May-04-2009 20:05:

It will be interesting but I doubt I'll even consider using it.

Posted by Storyteller on May-04-2009 20:10:

ReDo would a great name as well

It will have new digital restrictions management technology, you will have to put your penis in a dongle, and a sample of your DNA is send to their headquarters to check the verification. It does this every 15 minutes.

Also woman don't have a penis so they cannot use the DAW.

I wonder if it will be as stable as Reason? Reason is one of the most cpu friendly programs around. Hopefully they incorporate it in the current workstation, because having to rewire everything will really defeat the purpose.

Because maybe someone already asked them that same exact question and they said "wtf.. why would we give a shit about albeton?.. we're Reason"

Hey thats good news...
should be promising since props have and work with great developers.

Im guessing it would be a rewire protcol imbeded in the DAW
