Posted by chinamon on May-04-2009 20:00:

it wasnt bought out. peter was not the sole owner of circa.
what i heard was the other owners were not happy with the way peter was running/conducting things so they bought him out.

very old news....

im pretty sure charles bought in to lucid right in the end but was quick to realize that the place would be really hard to make any form of profit (due to high rent and expenses) and got out of that. smart move.

It's a cool little club but if Guv is having a hard time getting people in the door (I got a 'free pass' the Sat after the deadma5 jam) it's probably very hard for Circa.

Posted by Jayx1 on May-04-2009 23:45:

that space should have been a club in the 90s. These days not enough people go out anymore to support something that big.

10 years ago there were a dozen clubs that size or bigger that were busy every weekend.

Meow....

Posted by Dior Homme on May-05-2009 01:54:

It's just a bad area to have a club period.

Maybe 5-8 years back. But not now, not that size. Montana's is probably more busy/ full than Circa.

Posted by VDub on May-05-2009 02:23:

I said it once and I'll say it again...

The place looked amazing but it was not a club space...

I mean...a giant escalator?????

I knew it wouldn't last...

Guv's numbers haven't been affected by circa. Totally different crowds... Guv still pulls 2000 on a slow night. Not to mention that there's a concert happening there virtually every night of the week. Probably 10000 people a week go through the doors there.

From what I understand Circa is doing decently as well... Fridays are hit and miss(anywhere from 1000-2500 people) and people tell me saturdays are always rammed.

That place was wicked. It had awesome sound too! I remember one time putting my beer bottle on the handrail that goes up that long flight of stairs behind the dancefloor and showing the bouncer how much the bottle violently bounced up and down from that pounding bass. :P

Jesus... the stuff that went on in the place in open view of everyone. I can't believe it wasn't busted by the cops... LOL!

I live in that area. Believe me, everyone knew about that place. It was the locals in the area that shut meow down because of all the club goers were walking up to bloor waking up the neighbourhood at all hours of the night. Meow was actually my first club experience, the first time my fake ID was used, ah the memories....
