COR, I Need j00!

Serious question time....although this thread will only be about 10% useful.

GF's 21st is coming up in a few weeks. We're both students studying Marine Biology. She absolutely loves Sharks and has always wanted to dive with them.

Now there is an aquarium that offers Shark dives in their tanks. 30mins or so plus other talks for �125 per person + �35 kit hire. I'd be going in with her so that'll be �320 for us both!

Now, being a student, money isn't exactly plentiful. I am getting a job over the summer but don't know hours or rate of pay and I am eating big chunks out of my overdraft but I do have a credit card with a �500 limit. I may be making living hard for myself for a month over the summer.

Do I:

A) Splash out and make it a present she'll remember for the rest of her life.

or

B) Find something cheaper.

lol, find something cheaper mate...don't spend money u don't have.

Buy a plastic shark, throw it in the pool and play Jaws music.

Edit- don't forget the rose petals to make it romantic.

at 21 it is rare that you will end up with her for life, so spare the money you don't have and buy her a shamwow instead.

I would also like to say you might want to opt for a blow up shark.

Drop the one fity' for her to go. The rest is just a present for you. Plus you can take pics for her (though guessing you get ones from the guys in it too).

Just over a year. I know this may seem cliche but I think we'll be together for a long time. Its something i'd enjoy too.

I was thinking that to be honest. But she doesn't like diving without me. I'd want her to be comfortable and enjoy the experience rather than worrying and thinking about the dive.

Then you just answered your question: You really can't afford the dive for both of you, she doesn't want to dive alone. Take her out to dinner for some sushi and watch Jaws when you get home.

buy a inflatable boat, then ride the big blue untill you arrive at shark territory. this way you only have to pay for the boat.


or you could ask that guy who recently bought a boat. on the other hand it could turn out---> like Dead calm

Well kinda, but the kit is likely to be shitty and fail. Not good since kit hire must be paid for a week in advance.

You could always go diving in her shark tank...all night looong. Awwh yeaaah.

Ehhhhhhhh chances that the two of you stay together even through the rest of college are slim to none, so if you're broke, don't spend the $ you don't have.

Fill her a bathtub with bubbles and hide underneath them - then when she comes in to the bathroom make a fin with your arm and start humming the soundtrack to Jaws.

Could save you �70 tho

What about a balloon ride? Can get em from �80 a go, with free champers. �160 instead of �320, half price, plus nearly as good bragging rights.

Just because they wont get married, doesnt meant he cant buy her shit. Its not like he is going in debt, he is just gonna be tight on money for a month or 2.

Exactly. I have already started double shifts just to gimme a little bit extra

just get really drunk and watch that movie open water together.

Maybe promise to save up for diving on holiday? In fact how far would �320/�160 go towards say a Scuba wetsuit or some gear for her?

save the sharks thing for the next birthday. You'll probably have more money by then and you know you won't be wasting 600 pounds on a relationship that's only a year old (2 years is way tougher to make).

first of all, how far is the shark diving place from the local hospital ?
