Chicane

I just listened to all of Behind the Sun by Chicane and I must say it was amazing! One of the greatest albums ever, imo. So does anyone know of anything else that is very similar to his style? I'd really like to hear more like it.

Chicane is crap he was more better as
Disco Citizens i think

Nicholas Bracegirdle was a god of the era i think.

sunrise , sunset , and drunk as fuck the whole time , doubt deadmau5 or airbase can compete with that.

First of check out his album Far From The Maddening Crowds and look around for Easy To Assemble, it wasn't released but should be easy to find on google.

The only recent stuff that's somewhat like Chicane used to be, are Sunlounger's both albums Another Day On The Terrace and Sunny Tales.

I also want to recommend Al Azar presents Glaciation (since you didn't do it yourself )

heh i'm always looking for something similar to Chicane's first two albums, and I must say the search is going on for quite a few years . pure bliss what he was doing back at the time, he was on a totally different level than anything i've been hearing since.

imo Sunlounger comes "close to similar", maybe some Lost Tribe tracks, Schiller . check these out

only liked one Chicane track ever beacuse of good memories to it, nothing else. I dont remember what its called anymore but its the most known one. Saltwater i think. Fuck now i had to find it and listen too and made me emo lol

Posted by kitphillips on May-11-2009 08:24:

I wouldn't recommend sunlounger at all actually. I love chicane but find sunlounger nothing like it.

I think if your looking for that sort of stuff, track down a copy of his Ministry of Sound Session, and track back through the artists he plays in that. You should be particularly looking at Way Out West, Salt Tank (who NEED MORE CREDIT and are very similar) and Lamb.

Air France (not to be confused with "Air" from France) has a 6 track EP called No Way Down. It never reaches trance status, but very blissful and a perfect summer vibe.

I love his "Visions of Ibiza" compilation CD - man that was a beatiful album.

I also remember a turning point in his career where he started producing crappy tracks, like his latest albums. They are utter shite.

He should to what he was always good at, epic chillout melodies....its a shame really.

haha yeah it's pretty terrible, not only is he trashing his own name with saltwater but it looks like he's trying to cash in on the success of the cafe del mar tech/electroey remix by michael woods from last year as well.

Made me listen to Behind The Sun again. Great album. Too bad his new stuff is such shit.

Used to love Chicane back in the day. But think he lost it after the 'Behind the sun' album.
The version of Halcyon on his recent greatest hits album was fucking horrible - talk about butchered

This is still one of my favs though:

Chicane's album 'Somersault' wasn't too bad.

But here's an odd thing. I downloaded a copy before it was released, and when the album came out, I bought that straight away. However, the odd thing is, is that although it's the same tracklisting, the sound of the tracks side by side are for the most part, different. The last track 'Time Of Your Life' was completely different on the two versions I have. Can anyone shed some light as to why this is? For the record (no pun intended) I prefer the pre-release copy I downloaded

I also wish he'd release 'ETA'. Better than anything he's making right now, and 'Locking Down' had some good remixes by ATB and others.

I actually kind of agree with you on that. I think Somersault is a good album if you take it for what it really is and not as direct follow up to Behind The Sun. Nick said in an interview that he wanted to try something diffrent and he did with that house-dance-pop sound. And as always his productions are really solid so i really don't think the album should have the bad reputation it has.

About the sound issue, I checked my downloaded copy with the CD I bought and I couldn't notice any difference, but maybe that has something to do with the ripped release.

Somerssault was ok, but it was nothing special. And "You are always" is horrible
I think that ETA wasn't really that bad and it was way better than Somersault imo
