Ableton : Bounce to Audio to Free CPU Power?

Quick question. i was wondering if any of you guys record you're midi's to audio? to free more CPU power?

u currently have 5 different VST's and i wish to free some more CPU power.

DAW : Ableton

You ought to be able to bounce or freeze tracks in almost any DAW to free up processor space. Freezing allows more flexibility, if you need to edit the track in the future. I don't have Ableton but it seems like it ought to have those features.

Yes. Are you taking a survey?

I use Ableton 5. It's easy to export tracks, or you can just press the freeze button if you want something more temporary.

Bouncing your MIDI to Audio is very common. Especially (obviously) if you don't plan to do anything else with the sequence other than audio effects. As other posters have mentioned, freezing a track also helps and is very common. I highly doubt you're using a DAW that doesn't allow this.

I have made several percussive, kick, glitch, and stab elements from softsynths and then bounced them over to audio for my drum rack.

Yep, don't have the money to upgrade it.

The freeze and flatten function would expand your creativity, believe me.

Bugger. 5 was pretty boring from what I remember. 6 was the first really usable one IMO, when they started competing with logic and cubase...
