Matthew Belleghem (Area709.com Calgary/Melbourne) Now, More Than Ever [Melodic Beats]

Hello TA'ers! My name is Matthew. I'm a DJ and dance music journalist presently based in Calgary, Canada, although I know TA mostly from having lived and DJed in Melbourne, Australia from 2002-2006.

More about me here: www.area709.com
(just click on my name on the left side)

This is a 60-minute mix I put together as a going-away present for the regulars after having played the same venue here in Calgary (The Amsterdam Rhino) for nearly three years at a night we called Pure.Prog. Never sure how to describe my style - maybe think groove-driven beats, big basslines, and stick-in-your-head melodies in a Max Graham / Andy Moor sort of direction.

More details about the mix is here. Start and finish were recorded on a Zoom H4 outside the venue, and in between lies a set of the tunes I've been enjoying over the past few months (including the newest from Rob Curtis, one of my two partners in crime for the Pure.Prog nights at the Rhino), with a couple of cheeky edit/additions flown in under the radar.

Tracklisting:
1 - Field Recording - In the Pure.Prog Queue (F.L.Y.)
2 - Jacques C - Unfamiliar Friend
3 - Rob Curtis - Bakcheia (Dale Anderson Remix)
4 - Jaytech - Metro (FIM's Slight Simpleminded Return)
4 - Huggy & Dean Newton - Indian Summer (Tech Mix)
5 - Claes Rosen - Tempo
6 - Ferdy & Matt Van Wyk - Miami 8.06 (FIM De-Edit)
7 - Solarity - Essence (Claes Rosen Remix)
8 - Sudha with Zo Johnston - Leche (Thomas Schwartz and Fausto Fanizza Mix)
9 - Jaytech - Wannabe
10 - EDX - Casa Grande
11 - Filterheadz - Day at the Beach
12 - Field Recording - Back to the Basement (Outro)

Direct download right-click-save link (320kbit MP3) is here - encoded with LAME 3.97 from a 96/24 master, it's a pretty good sounding MP3.

If you prefer to stream it, you can listen instantly by clicking right here.

Let me know what you think!

haha thanks! in case you can't see it, it's a coke bottle that's been filled with an intensely bright blue spray paint and huffed, then discarded on the grass on a warm summer day. i can think of no more 'live for the moment and damn the consequences' symbol than huffing paint - i.e. getting high for thirty seconds at the cost of major long-term brain damage.

Yeah that's Rob I play with at the Rhino here in town, he makes great tunes - and Dale Anderson turned in a corker of a remix, too.
