Legos

Was anyone a fan? I used to build battleships with all kinds of lazers and guns on those brown pirate ships with my older brother when we were kids. We would just dump the whole box of legos on the floor and get to creating. Honestly, while a lot of kids probably still like Legos, I doubt anyone is nearly as creative as my generation was, they all probably follow the directions on something lame like a Star Wars Lego character. Kinex toys were also popular too.
Man I miss being a creative little kid
that pic is so true
Legos are probably my most favorite thing in the world. I think that, one day, I will just make a bulk purchase of Legos and play with them like a little kid.
I was never a fan of the big kits... just give me a bucket of assorted blocks and let me go to town.
by far my favorite toy, ever.
i always followed the directions the first time around just because i was so excited to build whatever was on the box, but it always got to a point where i would get bored with it, tear it apart, and build something entirely new and add it to the gigantic Lego village my brother and i built. we had like 15 of those land/road squares spread out and connected across his bedroom floor... where pirates lived with astronauts and police men sunbathed with surfers. it was beautiful. man i miss those days!
my mom still has a giant treasure chest filled with our Legos in the basement. a lot of our old toys got sent to villages in Africa but she knows we'd be pissed if she got rid of those, lol.
Legos where gay.

| Originally posted by david.michael That sounds epic. Some friends of ours got an ad in the mail for "Legoland", and when I arrived I almost peed myself with delight. My girlfriend said, "I knew you and Aaron (their young son) would get a kick out of that". Dammit. |
I loved it, and still have buckets of it at home.
I was more a fan of the early Technic series than the space / jungle / pirate series'. I can still remember the Christmas I got the bigass VW Beetle kit with seats that moved & tilted, a 4 speed gearbox (no ratios but the gears meshed or didn't), the little flat 4 motor with pistons that went in & out, all connected to a proper differential. Steering and suspension all worked too lol.
Damn, when I'm home in the fall for a visit I'll have to bust it all out and make a mess of the basement like old times.
The experience wouldn't be complete without stepping on a fucking piece or two. Damn, they always hurt so bad!
i played with them from time to time but i wasn't a huge fan. i was too busy climbing trees and catching lizards or tadpoles lol
Legos rule. Greatest toy evar.
yeah big fan of legos. but just regular plain ol' legos. i didn't need all the special ones. just regular blocks to build shit with.
yeah, i remember having a big red bucket- with all these legos- & the special piece to dismember legos.. when the NEW special cool legos came out.. i only got to play with them years later when i was babysitting..
how sad..
ooh... legos
best toy in the world. someone should hand the inventor a Nobel Prize
You can't pluralise "Lego". That's like saying "dices".
Yeah, Lego was the greatest toy ever. I still have all mine. I seriously think it makes a massive impact on a person's creativity and problem solving skills as an adult.
Lego these days is crap; all the pieces are specialised for their particular kit (Star Wars etc). The best pieces are just the plain square ones and whatnot.
I had Town, Space, Pirate, Castle and Western Lego. I loved them all.
I can remember having these:

Absolutely my favorite toy ever.
Like Myra, we used to build a gigantic cities complete with the road pieces. It would have a police station, fire dept, gas station, repair shop, sooooooo much stuff!
To this day, everytime I'm in a store with a toy dept, I have to check out the Lego section.

legos were awesome until they started coming out with all those ones that are meant to be built a certain way. Defeats the purpose imo.
But otherwise, they were my skeeeez.
Around the same time i got into lego hardcore was when Kevin costners Robin Hood movie came out... combine that with the awesome robin hood lego sets and my life was complete, with the glow in the dark ghosts, the knights, dragons, horses, trapdoors, prisons, spears, swords, my lampshade in my room set to dim to create the atmosphere... omg
The original Lego set and Techic sets were the best by far. I had 9 of the big green squares and I would build a kid-sized enclosure with a door and windows and I would camp out in there all afternoon when it was complted.
I kept my original Lego set seperate from the Technic sets because they were different styles. One day, my mom decided just to combine everything into one big box. When I saw this after school that day, I experienced my first long-held grudge. I didn't talk to my mother for 24 hours LOL!
I over 20,000 pieces (yes, I counted...damn OCD) and I would spend entire afternoons creating random buildings, cars, mazes, etc. I even made a car for my sister's pet rat with one of my Technic sets. That was a one-time thing since that little ****** shat all over the passenger compartment.
