Windows 7 upgrade

I'm considering upgrading my OS platform from XP 64-bit to Windows 7, but if it's another Vista nightmare then I'll pass.

is anyone running Win 7? if so, what is the performance like?

I propose that we all avoid addressing Carlos' original post, for fun

Win 7 > Vista. That's all that's required for me to upgrade.

Windows 3.1 > Vista. i haven't really been doing much research into 7, so i'm not sure if it's gonna be any good.

My buddy's firm out in cali was actually one of the contracted firms for Microsoft for debugging and beta testing... he said Windows 7 is basically everything Vista was SUPPOSED to be and more. Stable, solid, streamlined. He's hookin me up with a copy. I will be more than happy to share if anyone wants one

that's cool. I might have to take you up on that offer whenever my new build is completed.

Most def man.

The only thing I'm worried about is programs like AutoCAD 2009, Revit Architecture, 3ds Max Design and Ableton 7.0 not being compatible with Win 7.0. These are programs I've actually paid for, so loosing $$ over an OS change is not part of the plan , unless there is some sort of support out there, which I doubt there is any available.

I've been running Win 7 64 bit at home since January. It's amazing. Definitely the atonement for Vista's sins. It's incredibly smooth, very slick (probably trying to rival Leopard), and mostly problem free so far.

I work for an audio software company so I've seen a lot of weirdness in my testing in Win7, but generally when they release newer versions those issues go away.

I took a dump out a window 7 times.
