Magdelayna - Essential Mix [Ambient,Chillout,Breaks,Leftfield,Progressive,Uplifting]
Hi guys,this is my entry into the 'IAM DJ' competition you might have seen over on matthardwick.com. This is basically the kind of mix i would create if was asked by BBC Radio 1 to do an 'Essential Mix',its not really made for a club,much more for home listening - the mix ranges from 90 to 138 BPM,then back to down to around 93.
I dont really believe in playing a load of brand new tracks for one-off mix like this - these are all tunes that have a special place in my heart - i wanted emotive,moving,thought-provoking tracks in there,and this mix intends to take the listener on a journey that builds and then comes back down. I hope theres a few tracks on there that people have never heard,and i can introduce to. Hope you enjoy it,and any feedback and comments are appreciated.

Absolute fucking quality. Easily one of the best mixes I've heard on here. Great mixing, good flow, great track selection and some lovely additions of vocals. Sets that go ambient - prog - ambient are rare and this one nails it.
Great stuff, will be listening to this many times. Better than 99% of the actual Essential Mixes that have been aired.
Edit: Any hope of persueding you out of a wav copy of Brian Eno vs. John Creamer & Stephane K - I Wish You Were An Ending Ascent (Magdelayna Mashup)???

I liked some of your previous mixes, so I will definitely check this one. Looks very nice, very chilling! Right on my alley!

Really enjoyed this mix; well done. I guess I got lucky since I just randomly clicked on a link in the DJ Promotion forum and took a listen.
IMO, the Coldcut track at the end might have been better at the start of the mix, and ending rather with the Planisphere tracks. However this idea might not sound as good in practice.
Just took a listen:
The set starts very epic even though it has an ambient feel on the first tracks but I feel it that way. Nice intro.
The set as a whole is very chilling, even though at 46 min you introduced a more banging tune but still it remained to me that way. Very melodic, very emotional and touchy. I feel I am on the beach!
Its a cool way to change the styles all over as well since I actually got bored at some points but soon after you changed the style. I love diverse sets.
Only remark is that the mixing is a bit ropey and there are some key clashes here and there but since the music flows good together this wasnt a main problem, just a technical issue.
Overall I had a great time listening to this! Very good set, thanks for the share!

downloaded the set & i absolute love it. good work mate
i use itunes to play my music, so there was an album art gap i needed to fill for this set (i usually just place in a picture of the dj for mixes) but for this one i simply needed a beach setting to set the vibe so i ended up making one of my own real quick:
tossing it up here in case anyone else is like me & needs album art. if you don't like it then make your own dammit 
oh & i realize it's a big picture but whatever. hah.
once again great set man!

JM-8 : cheers for the comments,yeah i thought the coldcut track suited the very end of the mix,something about the vocals : ''and i miss you most of all,when autumn leaves start to fall' - just gave a nice outro to it..

I have somehow missed this one before yesterday. But now when I have listened it, I just adore this one. I love the way this set develops and then calms down before the end. And I also love the trackselection when there are many tracks from artists I love and those tracks are used impressively well. Yesterday evening when I listened this I just closed my eyes in the end and enjoyed every bit of this set. Also the mixing is pretty flawless.
Magnificent set!
