Who are you to judge the life I live?
I know I am not perfect and I don't live to be,

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

This rocks.

Hearing FF make this statement in her documentary was inspring to me:

My deepest desire now is to simply live.

"pretty much"

Posted by steppenwolf on May-22-2009 05:53:

I've got two:

'He not busy being born is busy dying' -Bob Dylan

`Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' And the second is like it: `Love your neighbor as yourself.'40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." -Jesus (that's all I need from the Bible)

also...watching the George Carlin videos I was reminded of another Dylan song, 'With God on our Side'.

For the record I believe in God but I think the world in general could benefit by taking a hard look at a lot of our beliefs about God and get rid of some of these flat-out infantile notions we have about God and the Universe. Some of it is just so infantile...

Some?

Posted by steppenwolf on May-22-2009 06:21:

'Some', 'much', 'lots'....whatever....certainly can't say 'all'. Unless you're one of those who thinks 'everyone who believes in God is stupid'.

I don't mind a difference of opinion by any means, but such a sweeping statement doesn't get any respect from me. The opposite statement bothers me equally; 'anyone who doesn't believe in God is stupid' It doesn't show any depth of thought. Hope you're not one of those. I've gone back and forth myself..believinig/not believing...

I don't have any problem with belief in God on its own, I do have a problem with the exploitation of that belief by man.

Oh human race, born to soar, why do you fall so, at a breath of wind - Dante Alighieri, from the Divine Comedy, book 2, Purgatory

Also most anything by Kahlil Gibran is quotable, especially these 2:
Beauty is that which attracts the soul

But if in your fear you would seek only love's peace and love's pleasure, then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love's threshing-floor, into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears. (The Prophet) life changing book of poetry.
