hey
after listening to a few ambient/chilled tracks
i've really started to like it
can anyone list some good ambient/chilled tracks?
thanx
hey!! me too ambient is awesome
ok first of all..go to the other thread in here called "ChicanEaddicts go here" anything chicane is really chilled out...especiallY "Overture" omg amazing tune!
also get some Blank & Jones Ambient remixes like "Heaven Can Wait" ambient remix and "Beyond Time" Ambient remix and "Watching the Waves" ambient remix
good stuff....
also...any Delerium is great! i wouldn't call it "ambient" but it's very chilled out stuff
same with starecase tunes....
i can't guarantee you'll like it, but i suggest you try Selected Ambient Works Volume II by Aphex Twin. the tracks don't have names given on the album, so i can't give you any certain ones to try, only numbers. if you feel the need to see what its like, here are a couple of my personal favorites...
Disc 01 - Track 04
Disc 02 - Track 03 (this one is very strange. it's hard, but calm at the same time)
Disc 02 - Track 05
of course, picking ones at random would be cool too, because there's a lot of different stuff on it.
i also like William Orbit's modern take on "Barber's Adagio For Strings," which I recommend
one of the best ambient traxx ever in my opinion is
Astral Projection - Ambient Galaxy (Disco Valley Remix)
wow what a sweet ass track
my fave chillout track:
rank 1- airwave (sunset chillout remix)
awsome!

There's tons of tite chill tracks.
Johan Geilen : Human Evolution
I went on a retreat with my class, and I was (rudely) woken up by my friends GF at like 5:00am, so I tok my CD player and went out on the docks, and just listened to this song. I swear I could've sat there forever.
My favorite chill track tho' is on an old CD, I have to get it ID'd someday, it hs beautiful vocals.
My all time favourite Ambient tune : Chicane - Overlap !
Go download now...there is a little drumming sequence but it completes the song...I wished it was longer

3rd disks of Gatecraser Digital & Experience are very good chillout disks too... Basicly ambient/chill mixes of popular trance songs...
Apologies if I'm just regurgitating things other people have already said, but Strike - if it's decent ambient/chillout you want then I strongly suggest that you check out Chicane's albums 'Far From The Maddening Crowds' and 'Behind The Sun'. My personal Chicane faves are 'Overture', 'No Ordinary Morning' and 'Sunstroke', as well as 'Saltwater (The Thrillseekers Remix)'
On a par with Chicane in my opinion is Michael Woods; here are a few of my fave remixes and productions he's done:
Accadia - Into The Dawn (Accadia Ambient Mix)
Saints and Sinners - Peace (Michael Woods Remix)
Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar (Michael Woods Remix)
I hope that this helps.
Check out Gatecrasher Digitial and Gatecrasher Experience Chillout CDs. they are pretty good

| Originally posted by GrimReaper I don't much like this album, i prefer Selected Ambient Works 85-92. That has much warmer ambient trax. There are names to Vol. II, but not on the cd: CD1 1. Cliffs 7:20 2. Radiator 6:27 3. Rhubarb 7:36 4. Hankie 4:34 5. Grass 8:46 6. Mold 3:27 7. Curtains 8:42 8. Blur 5:03 9. Weathered Stone 6:47 10. Tree 9:48 11. Domino 7:10 12. White Blur 2:38 CD2 1. Blue Calx 7:16 2. Parallel Stripes 7:55 3. Shiny Metal Rods 5:29 4. Grey Stripe 4:38 5. Z Twig 2:01 6. Windowsill 7:13 7. Hexagon 5:50 8. Lichen 4:07 9. Spots 7:02 10. Tassels 7:24 11. White Blur 2 11:21 12. Match Sticks 5:36 There are at least 3 different versions of vol. II so tracklist may vary a bit. Some versions don't have cd1/"Hankie" and on cd2 may be a bonus track between Spots and Tassels, called "Stone In Focus" 10:04 |
Paul Oakenfold - Southern Sun (Solar Stone Chillout Mix)
Tranceparents - Child 2 (Summer Love Remix)

Gotta go with the classics... Art Of Noise - Moments In Love, recently featured on the aforementioned Solar Stone compilation "Chilled Out Euphoria". This was originally released in 1984 (!) and is based around a beautiful pan flute melody. Sublimely hypnotising and highly recommended!
edit Whoops, these chillout remixes are good too:
Breeder - Twilo Thunder (Auranaut Remix)
Gouryella - Tenshi (Mark Moon Remix)
29 Palms - Touch The Sky (Lorimer's Rin Hat Chill Mix)
Also check out an early (1997) Ayla release called Atmosphere. Nice if you can find it.

I think the album "boulevard" by St. Germain is a must. Not really ambient, but a little more jazz-influence. it sounds great, and quite unexpected. try it!
