The Seafood Appreciation thread

Because it's delicious. Lobster, fish, calamari, salmon, eel, crab, shrimp [or prawn for Stu], etc. The works. I've been frying some delicious tilapia fillets lately. So bomb.

Some pics of seafood plates from my country...

How do you guys like your seafood?

Posted by Sushipunk on May-21-2009 08:02:

BBQ seafood. Oh yes, oh yes.

Can you guys get Moreton Bay Bugs over there? Om nom nom nom.

Or a whole fish, stuffed, seasoned, wrapped in foil, and BBQ'd.

Posted by Renzo on May-21-2009 08:03:

I've never heard of them. I think they might be exclusive to Aussieland.

The only kind of seafood I don't like is muscles. Everything else is delicious.

I hate fish, the taste is so gross & the texture really meh.

I do want to try panceta wrapped scallops however.

Not if they're fresh, and done properly. Rubbery muscles indicates old/not fresh.

Posted by Renzo on May-21-2009 08:17:

Ah ok. Gotcha. Nothing worse than seafood that isn't fresh.

I love seafood, the best plate I've ever had was when I was in Seattle, we went to the Market and they had freshly caught fish, crab, and all sorts of other seafood goodness. I ordered some Crab Sautee, where they sauteed fresh crab meat in butter with peppers, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, and some sourdough bread on the side. So amazing, it was like $37 bucks but totally worth it!

Fresh Seafood > *

noooooooooob! frying food is a great way to say i don't really like the taste of the food so i'll mask it with fat, cause fat taste good. throw some lemon at it and you might as well be eating chicken.

i like it raw or barely cooked. in japan and many other countries, they have a seafood market on the ground floor with a restaurant above the market. when you buy your bizarre seafood and have it sent up and cooked for you.

TUNA.

Especially tuna so fresh it's still alive (or was just killed minutes before) when it gets to my house

shellfish (scallops, clams, mussels, squid, octi) when overcooked is tough and rubbery.

Um HELLO! I know! I tried calling LA the other day but she didn't pick up! 1 bathroom is about to be done by next week (hopefully) and then we go straight to work on the guest

i love it all, but any kind of shellfish is probably my favorite.

can't wait to be back on the east coast. people's idea of good fish in wisconsin is deep fried greasy and bland white fish with a side of potato pancakes. uegh.

Posted by nchs09 on May-21-2009 15:27:

Ceviche... Paella... Fried Calamari
