Drunk Shock jock who supported torture changed by being waterboarded...

Chicago radio shock jock Erich Mancow Muller took his listeners advice and voluntarily underwent waterboarding on May 22 and reluctantly concluded it was torture. Mancow had earlier pooh-poohed the conclusion that waterboarding was torture (though the U.S. government prosecuted as war criminals some Japanese soldiers who had conducted waterboarding against U.S. soldiers, and even court-martialed a U.S. soldier who had engaged in it in Vietnam). Vanity Fair journalist Christopher Hitchens also volunteered to be waterboarded last year after being challenged to do so.

In an on-air confrontation earlier this week with co-host Brian Kilmeade on Fox and Friends on the Fox News Channel, former Minnesota Governor and Navy Seal Jesse Ventura had argued it was torture. Ventura had undergone waterboarding as part of his military SERE training.

very interesting

Mancow used to be huge in Chicago but not so much anymore. I dont even know which station he broadcasts on at the moment.

And yes waterboarding is torture & the people who approved its practice here in the states should be prosecuted.

i'd love to undergo waterboarding just to see how effective it really is. all these people throwing their towels in under a minute...

MUST. FIND. A. WATERBOARDER.

Just have a friend do it.

Posted by idoru on May-24-2009 03:45:

Umm... duh? Peoples opinions on this issue will change over time. Patience. Until then, "shock jocks" trying it out and stating the obvious afterwards is really, really pointless.

You should try it Quintin!

I like that name... Quintin Fiveroski Echonopolis.

Right wing greek shipping magnate that Kryp actually has invested in!

I am so tired...

Listening to Mancow is torture. This must be the first torture technique in history that can double as a shock-jock radio bit

sure, i guess. i fail to see the point though. i've been volunarily tazed and voluntarily pepper douched. both immensely more painful and torturous than waterboarding could ever be. (try having capsicum spray wash down to your ballsac in the shower after trying to get it off you) you don't see Krypton's faux righteous indignation in a thread everytime that happens to someone.

see Krypton and other young and cool liberal douchebags like him use this as a POLITICAL statement not some holier-than-thou moral proclamation, although that would be the impression they want to convey to you. no, to them internally it's a political invective that reflects their irrational hatred of a certain previous administration and has no basis in real law.

Mankow, within seconds of the procedure, apparently got right back in his little DJ chair and continued along his daily business. he wasn't injured. he wasn't disfigured. he suffered no long term or short term ill effects. basically, he wasn't tortured. he said he was because he has no idea what REAL torture is.

Yeah, its all those damn, dirty liberal douchebags. ALL OF THEM. Because, you know, thats not a generalization or anything.

i completely acknowledge the existence of conservative douchebags.

i am thoroughly capable of making rational distinctions, are you?

Posted by wing on May-24-2009 12:51:

links to real waterboarding torture?

Oh, of course not! I'm a dirty, hippie liberal douchebag who only sees things in black-and-white. I can't understand that just because you lean more towards one side of the political spectrum you can't have some traits from the other.

Nope, sure can't. Because everyone knows if you're one you can't even have a tiny spec of the other.

Posted by MrJiveBoJingles on May-24-2009 20:48:

^ That was quite a hysterical liberal response, Banora.

wow... talk about putting words in Q's mouth (and adding meaning to them). When did he say YOU were dirty, a hippie, and how is it clear that he thinks you only sees things in black and white and said you were incapable of having traits from the other side?

It's the perfect straw man argument: creating the illusion of refuting his argument by mischaracterizing it and then knocking down that mischaracterization. Fail.
