Roland Garros 2009 (French Open)

it's that time again

women:
safina being the world #1 has got to pull off a win here to justify her ranking. although i really like how she has played in the last year i would be flabbergasted if she wins the whole thing. her A game doesn't come close to the A game of many of the top women.

sharapova takes on petrova which is a "biggie" if she can get past her. for maria to make the quarters would be great confidence booster since being out for so long.

serena's half of the draw looks pretty easy to get through although she faltered today. she's a beast no matter where she is and as she gets deeper into a tournament can't see her making the same mistakes.

*would love venus finally win this one

men:
federer well he's a champion so with that win over nadal a couple weeks ago on clay you can expect he has some of his confidence back. if he meets nadal in the final not too sure

nadal has verdasco in his quarter so hoping to see a rematch of the australian open. nadal is owns this tournament so pretty sure he will cruise through although i don't know if he can pull off another win here.

murray should easily make it to the semis but we will see. imo he should win a major or get deeper in one this year. ideally wimbledon but if all goes as expected he would have to get past nadal to make the finals which would be hard.

*i want nadal to win again...obviously

Don't really pay much attention to tennis, but I hope Serena and Federer take this

Saw some moments of Serena's match today, but man she's in bad shape. Don't know what went on really, it looked like she had a painful knee. But just look at her physique, she's really chubby.

The nerdy geek that I am, at lunch break I went to check out the faces of all 32 ranked female players, and boy are they fugly! Only Ivanovic and Wozniacki are hot.

I'm trying to catch as many men's matches on tv as I can.. I love it. Men's tennis is so much more awesome than women's. Some spectacular rallies today, great drop shots, incredibly fast rushes and some awesome smashes. As for women's tennis, I only enjoy the upskirts (if you can even call them that)

i did notice that serena has put on some extra weight but i still think she has it in her to win here.

Apperently there's two things that prevents this chick from taking home the trophy:

She wants to do something about this "problem"..i for one, say don't mess with moder nature

I think you misspelled Sharapova somewhere there

It just pains me to see Nadal winning another major.

rooting for my boy federer yet again. i'm hoping the win over rafa in madrid shows roger that he CAN beat nadal on his surface (though the clay in madrid plays differently than the clay in paris).

Anyone but Roddick

That is all

That's the thing.. Sharapova has been out for a year and therefore she's not ranked, otherwise I definitely would've included her

Posted by TranceOwnsLol on May-27-2009 08:38:

I hope Tsonga/Federer/Murray win. Even DJokovic is ok. ANYONE but Nadal.

For the women, I hope Ana Ivanovic or Sharapova will win.

looks like petrova will pull off the win against sharapova well unless maria can break twice and hold her serve. would like to see sharapova move forward despite her annoying grunt on court.

Williams' are as annoying with grunts, so since maria also has looks, i'll take her over them anyday

she's not seeded due to her injuries etc

williams only grunt when they start to lose or do badly. sharapova always grunts no matter what and it's damn annoying. anyhow she just beat petrova which is great she should get through the quarters

they were talking about some qualifier from portgual who apparently is so loud that it makes maria sound like a mouse

FAIL

no one in the women's game can hold their serve reliably. even at 5-1, no lead is safe in the women's game.

she had maria down at the point i wrote that then sharapova held her serve then broke which was a surprise given the way the game went in the first two sets. i'm just reading stats not actually watching. gotta look at serve percentages at the for both sexes since you brought that up

Posted by trunks1022 on May-27-2009 15:46:

it's like a brain fart, even amongst the top women players. it's one reason why i can't stand doing women's matches. 6-0, 4-1 the right way can end up being three sets long for no reason.

CAMPIONS!!!

Posted by chimera66 on May-28-2009 13:16:

federer is down 4 games to love

*crisis averted

NADAL LOST

in the round of 16 no less, didn't even make it to the second week. i'm both stunned and curious. who the hell is going to win this? federer's best opportunity to win here now...i'm going to root for gonzo now just cause.

YES FINALLY

I LOVE SODERLING

you just want venus to win because she's black

yes that's it!

honestly though, i don't like that serena beats her in everything. it seems only fair. i've been a williams fan for a while though so makes sense. too bad she wasn't able to do well here.

Yea Roger, it's now or never.
