So someone took your earpieces and listen to what your playing...

Whats their reaction?
I find it really hard to tell people that I listen to Trance , In fact most of the time I just say nothing ..

Well some of my friends who took and earpiece and put it into their ears while I was listening to trance or house ,
have pretty funny reactons.

Some of them would go , "woah this is cool!!"
or "What you listen to this kind of music?"

Or , my favourite one ^^

"You like techno?"

So whats your friends reaction when they hear you playing trance on your mp3 player?(Given that they never knew that you listen to trance , or any other EDM.)

If I just act passionately towards my music then people generally respect it. If they don't respect my taste in music then I just don't hang out with them.

Last time that happened, I was listening to a Venetian Snares album. After 30 seconds, the co-worker wanted me to burn him a copy.

ive deejayed at least once for pretty much everyone i know, or they've deejayed for me, or we have been to parties together

I've gotten the "whoo I'm at a rave" (flails arms around fast, jumps a bit), and maybe some mention of a glow stick if I'm lucky.

The classic one: "i only hear bass"
The best one so far: "the singer has a really weird voice" (The MFA - The Difference it Makes)

I find Trance and Classical music are the same in terms of taste.

It takes awhile to like, and much patience is required when listening. Not to mention a good ear to pick up all the sounds playing at once.

you have to be fucking kidding me.

no trance song has ever come close to even a below average classical recording.

i enjoyed this one girl i was sitting next to while taking a bus to NYC. i had eric saties 'gymnopedie no.1' playing on my ipod and they abruptly stuck the phones in their ears and were like "whoa, definitely didn't expect someone like you to listen to such music"

it was pretty cool, we got into a rather fluid discussion after

i always prefer pizza from scratch. especially when you make some really quality dough and of course, the sauce is probably one of the most important aspects of a pizza. it looked good as shit, that pic

The usual is "I didnt know you listen to this... I thought you were only Rap" followed by the proverbial "so your a raver with glow sticks"

happens all the time at work when i got my walkman on...

most of the time they quite like it :-]

far and away the most frequent comment when someone rides with me is
"does this song end?" when there has already been 5 tunes played and they dont realize it.

someone mentioned basshunter at a local house party i was at last weekend, i just laughed and turned 'modern talking-cheri cheri lady' on

that said i have some great memories involving basshunter because a friend of mine and i have made talking about how terrible he is an integral part of our friendship

Modern Talking rocks though. Their 80's stuff (and 90's remakes of their 80's stuff). However, I prefer the same sound with female vocals - C.C. Catch sound

Hah! Some of the responses I get are:

"Are you listening to that techno shit?" [me listening to some eurodance]

"Is this a new track by Benni Benassi / Basshunter?"

"What is the difference between techno and trance (or other combinations)?"

"It all sounds the same" [I love proving them wrong, and seeing the awe and shock when I correctly ID a track from 1-3 second sample - chosen by them]

99% of people I've met think that all electronic music is techno, all of it, Tiestos, Basehunters, Deadmice, Guettinas, etc

So many clueless fucks out there, its a terrible shame. So many people I know who hate techno yet they dont know anything about it.They cant name ONE or even TWO techno artists.

I try to not let them simply because of how I know it will get into a discussion about the differences in various forms of EDM and all the complexity and how it's not all the same boring shit.
