Are You A Member of AudioPioneers?

I thought I'd post a link to this here so it got some fucking attention... the fact that it's gone eight hours without a response is just perfect for the subject ...

http://www.audiopioneers.net/forum/...=newpost&t=3315

And if you respond to the thread on AudioPioneers, please say you saw it originally on TA. It'll add to my argument.

I hear you but they took too long to approve so I got back on TA.

Also, TA has a broader interest (local scenes, Djing, weird shit), so even though the threads were very specialized, TA is more useful all round.

Response time to *this* thread: 11 minutes.

One of my primary arguments ...

I went to the site once, saw that you needed to apply for membership or get an invite, and never looked back.

Probably a better system would be to delete users, rather than require they fill out an application (as if joining an internet forum was that fucking prestigious).

I looked in the production section and the topics there aren't any different than the ones you see around other production forums.

One of the topics in the production forum there is titled "Equalizing for Dummies" and they say they are a high-end production forum.

3. A link to a current production you are working on.

Its just plain stupid, even if i hadnt touched a sequencer before i could just take any random unknown track, rename it and feed it to them for membership.

I just logged in to my account at APN, and it said: "You last visited: 07-09-2007 at 05:03 PM".

I remember how fun that site was for the first day i used it, then i just never bothered to go back to it, you can find better stuff on other forums in any case.

any forum that requires more authentication check than some jobs out there is fucking useless

Posted by cryophonik on May-28-2009 05:03:

I'm a member of APN. My take on it is that it was apparently THE forum for serious EDM talk without all the noise at one point (long before I joined) - in other words, it was the anti-trance.nu. But, it seems to me that it now suffers from the regulars not posting there anymore (they probably got real jobs by now) combined with poor management of the site. But, I have to admit that I'm as much to blame as anybody else since I rarely visit it anymore and I can't remember the last time I posted anything there (aside from a few minutes ago).

I don't think it's worth complaining about - if it dies, it dies, and if it somehow rises from the ashes again, that'd be fine as well. In the meantime, this is still a much better forum IMO. My 2 cents.

yup, I'm a member too. Nope, haven't posted in ages either.

I tried to apply 3 times, never heard anything back.

I only tried once. Didn't even receive a "nope, you're too amateur lolz!" response.

It is my holy grail, one day I shall be good enough to enter the website's hallowed halls.

+1
Been a member for some time now, but one of the reasons for me to not post as much as i wanted when i applied is my full time job, but yeh fully agree with you.

i was googling some stuff and found a thread on apn

It was an offspring of the TA Production Studio. There was a time when it was just as good, but that didn't last long.

Posted by G-Con on May-28-2009 12:58:

I went on there, applied, didnt get any response of any kind.

I remember when I looked at the thread topics I didnt find them any more sophisticated or pro level than most of the posts in this forum.

And lets be honest, a forum where you need to be "qualified" to take part is a joke

yeah well, in the end forum quality is mainly about the amount of traffic

too little and its useless
too much and its all spam and crap (unless heavily modded)

Posted by itsamemario on May-28-2009 13:36:

at the time when APN was created it was a very good idea, the forum here at TA was filled with hundreds of "how do i make my xxx sound like xxxx"-threads, and it was nice to don't have to deal with all the noobs.

i rarely go on APN anymore, the number of active users is virtually 0, and I am at a point where I don't feel the need to ask for help producing a track, and I'm too lazy to learn noobs how to make music, both because there are 100's of other that can answer the question and because I don't want any more producers on the market, it's hard enough getting recognition from bigger labels without all these little presetkids there too.
