Nothing like a sprint through a thunderstorm..

Im beginning to get addicted to running again. Ive taken off quit a bit of bulkiness and am looking good. I think I got too bulky before, Its awesome to hear people be like holy shit you put on alot of muscle and ask you about working out, but i love being back to my quick self with tons of endurance and now with alot of strength. This soccer season I'm feeling another 20 goal season, leading goal scorer in the league again. cutting off the alchol for the next few weeks thought, Ive been drinking alot these last 2 months on weekends. Need to cut beer out of my diet for a bit.

Nothing like a long ass windsprint session and an hour jogg to pump your confidence back up.

Have a narc test on friday lol

any runners in here? if so how often and for how long?

Ex distance runner.

My weekly workouts would generally consist of at least two long runs of 12-15 miles, two or three mid-distance/recovery runs that would range between 4 and 6 1/2 miles at or around threshold pace (which is basically 88 to 92 percent of your maximum heart rate), with the remaining days being devoted to interval training on the track or on the trails (from hill repeats, repeat miles, repeat 400's/800's, etc.).

Raced once a week or once every other week.

Haven't run competitively in years, and have moved on to weight lifting whilst trying to maintain at least a basic level of cardiovascular fitness.

I will admit, however, that a part of me really misses it.

I'm in exactly the same position as you, right down to the weight lifiting and missing competitive running.

Which events did you run and what was your PB?

Posted by Vivid Boy on May-28-2009 01:22:

I ran competitively up until i was the age of 14. long distance cross country. Placed 3rd in one race out of 100 others. thsats the best i did. Most other races id place in the top 10 usually 7th or 8th

Posted by Paradox Lost on May-28-2009 01:22:

In high school, I ran the 3200m. I really was quite terrible at shorter distances, so the 3200 was the longest available.

In college, I ran the 5,000 and did road races of about 10,000m.

PR's:

1600m: 4:44
3200m: 10:07
5000m: 16:13

I never did a 10k on the track, for which I can be grateful, as I don't think I could have finished the race with my sanity in tact.

Yourself?

You should sign up for the steeplechase next time an open invitation comes your way.

Running in the rain is a blast, especially with a group; it just takes a great deal of the edge off, and you can really manage to have a great time and get in a decent workout.

I love when the devil comes on your shoulder and tells you to stop. that your tired and your weak, take a 2 min break. thats when you put on the afterburners and nearly die lol. you think your not gonna make it but when you finish you look back and you're like "FUCK YEAH"
