Black Bear comes to Aurora for cheap beers and loose women

The town of Aurora never gets any action, including myself.

A Black bear came around my neighbourhood just a few blocks away, to check it out, have a few snacks from some garbage cans, and chill.

The halikopter woke me up this morning, and almost 3 hours later, it's still here, joined by a second one, and another radio traffic news Cesna flying around in circles.

A black bear prowls around a backyard in Aurora on Wednesday June 3, 2009.(Kim Greenslade - Special to CP24)

Police and animal control are trying to deal with a black bear that's up in a tree near Yonge and Wellington Streets in Aurora Wednesday morning.

Nobody is hurt and Chopper 24 is in the air watching the scene.

The bear is in a backyard and was near a GO Station at one point.

CP24 will be following developments in this story.

I had to bring my car to the mechanic this morning, so I checked it out..... TA exclusive pix to follow.

Wow... random. I always wonder about that kind of thing when I'm riding in the bush with my two year old... apparently that wasn't as irrational as I thought

My childhood home is in Aurora a block away from Yonge/Wellington. That's the center of town, I wonder how the bears got so deep into the city?

....I also hope my 3 Bulldogs that now live with my parents aren't outside (making a call)

Corner of Catherine and Spruce in the old district, it's actually Lester B. Pearson's old home (actually, his childhood home as well)

I called my Dad, and apparently they've been tranquilized already. They were near the GO Train station...

It's in the backyard of a house on Wellington, south side, between Victoria and Wells.

Did your parents have to take Valium? There's just one bear.

There was a black bear also up a tree in Newmarket last year, similar story.

edit: It was 4 years ago (time flies!)

Black bear captured in Newmarket
May 22, 05 | National Post

Newmarket, Ontario - A bear that wandered into this town north of Toronto was captured Sunday evening after leading police on a daylong chase through urban parkland.

It was tranquillized and lowered out of the tree, then loaded on a truck to be taken to more bear-friendly territory than downtown Newmarket.

There's still a lot of woods and farmland in Aurora's outskirts, and since it's been spotted near the rail station, it's a good path for the hobo bear to take in from the north.

I don't think they'll kill it, they'll bring it up north and release it. It's not like the bear has been accustomed to living near humans and getting food from us. They only kill those bears that have leaned to associate humans to food, because then they become a danger to us...
