Jon Bishop returns to CIRCUS this Sat 6/6/09

In the beginning of the electronic music scene in San Diego, CA, was DJ Jon Bishop. Performing in warehouses, outdoor events, trade shows and radio shows, and special events. Jons reputation as a leader in the techno/house scene spread fast and soon he was booked at the biggest events in San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and all around the U.S., Mexico and Canada.
In 1991, Jon launched the first late night radio show dedicated to electronic music called Sounds Of The Underground on 92.5 fm in San Diego. The show was instrumental in bringing Jons name and the new techno and house sound to SD.
1992 saw the creation of the legendary Club Hedonism at Richs nightclub in SD with Jon as one of the co-founders. The club night ran every thursday night for over 10 years until 2002 and established itself as the longest running club night in the U.S.A. The night was voted one of the top nights out in both playboy and details magazine, and it boasted 1,000 patrons who came to hear the cutting edge house and techno that Jon pioneered into his patented high energy hardhouse sound he is now identified with.
The clubnight hosted some of the best djs in the world including the Tidy Boys, Lisa Lashes, Ann Savage, Tall Paul, John Digweed, Carl Cox, Rachel Auburn, and Kimball Collins to name a few.

Not a big fan of house. I likely will skip this week... but free goodies are soooo tempting.

Does anybody else here consider "hard house" to be "house" at all?

I always liked UK NRG as the genre for Jon Bishop. Its actually Jon Bishop that was responsible for me taking the final step in me getting my first set of turn tables. I started out playing UK NRG & Hardhouse, and was a huge fan of Jon, and all the Tidy & Nukleuz stuff of 99-02 years. I still have a record that Jon * Yoji Signed for me at a gig they played with Yoji Biomehanika & Irene at the old Orion rave dump. I think im heading out tonight just for old time sake, although I can hardly tolerate hardhouse these days LOL.

Have a good set Aspara!!! Wished I could be there, but will be in San Bernardino for Ronski Speed. Too bad the venue is soo far from each other or I would go to both.

fun stuff, so fun i never made it to avalon. mecca's gf apsarah played a very nice opening set. she has very nice dark taste in tunes. The sound was polished in the main room, and familiar faces were in attendance. Talked to jon bishop for a bit and was told hard dance is still in demand in cities on this planet. who'd ahh thunk.

Tacos made the night tho, but have the old ladies really been replaced by those young thuggy kids on taco duty?
