"DJ perspective?" As far as I can tell they probably had a few patterns programmed into the synths and drum machine, with all of the equipment synced up, and then they triggered them at appropriate moments and played with some parameters on the synths.

Ehh, Ludus Pinsky (Lapo Lombardi) isn't even 50 years old.
Actually he's just 4 years older than e.g. H.P. Baxxter and I bet they have stuff like that.
Also I think there are many older ones who already have collections like this.
