WTB Mixer

Preferably 4 channels, but I would get a 2 or 3 also.

I'm posting this here because I very much prefer buying locally.

Check on www.moogaudio.com

Are you looking for a Beginner Mixer? or something more advanced... Also do you want a mixer you can hook up with MIDI, or just analog?

Also check out Steve's Audio. I'm under the impression that most people are unaware of their quite vast selection of DJ gear.

Isn't Steve's Music ?

and I agree, it's the second store I would look after Moog !

Posted by elFreak on Jun-08-2009 23:32:

they both match prices so play them against each other, that being said internet is always cheaper.

As online store, I really like AxeMusic.com. I've deal twice with them and never had trouble. They ship fast and cheap !

Xone 92 is a freaking sick mixer, I got to use it this weekend and I liked it a lot... 4band eq... filters, tons of other features... It is a bit on the expensive side though... The only downside I think is that the EQ bands are a bit close together, but then again that is all preference...

yeah definitely it's an investment. used to be like $1700 at moog but i see it listed for $2000 now...must be the recession i guess. so worth it though.

a brand new djm-800 is even more expensive than the 92...which just don't make sense to me...id never take a digital mixer over an analog one..and never for a higher price

I am looking for secondhand - I already know of all the places to buy one.

Second hand Xone 32 would be nice.

I read in a DJM800 vs. xone 92 comparison review that xone wins by filter quality, sound quality when it comes to playing vynil (analog to analog), and the 4band EQ... However the DJM800 has a bunch of effects and if you are playing from CDJs the digital to digital signal is pretty damn good too from what I understand. Also you wouldn't see too many xone92s at clubs in North America, however the DJM800 is probably one of the most common mixers out there, that is probably one of the reasons it is more expensive too....

it is one thing to read about it, quite another to try.

djm = crappy build and multiple problems with bleeding, channels that stop working, knobs and faders that break pretty quickly, and sound that is just not up to par. A bunch of effects (that are not really needed imo) do not make this a better mixer...the price tag is a result of pioneer classing itself as a top tier brand name and not because of quality.

allen & heath products are built like tanks, have a great eq curve, and the sound is miles ahead of anything djm not to mention that the filters are amazing.

pioneer makes the industry standard in regards to cdjs, but i would not be so quick to say that djm's are the industry standard when it comes to mixers. Go talk to a sound tech about when he has to oblige a visiting dj with a djm requested in his rider. They often pull out their hair because the sound reproduction on a big system is not only horrible, but the lack of precision in its eq curve leads to much more red lining (especially if the bozo does not know what he is doing) and a dancefloor for of bloody ear drums.

that being said i own neither, and while the xone92 is a wonderful piece of kit it might be a little over kill for home use as the lower end models will do more than enough for home use at a fraction of the cost

ps i went into italomelodie near the jean talon market last weekend for shits and giggles and they had a refurbished xone32 at a decent price. Might be worth looking into.

analog to digital sounds better than digital to digital..at least from what i heard...and i hate the djm's filters...and the effects are awful..really don't like them. but its all a matter of preference i suppose... vinyl + xone 92 is pure bliss though

Not really in your price range, but I'm just showing you a DJM
that I fell in love with. The DJM 1000. I rented it for my last
event and it sounded pretty fierce. Best part is, no built-in fx.

Read about DJM 1000
