Stop Adding Vocals!
Here is my rant
Why do ppl keep adding vocals to vocaless tunes. They have wrecked so many songs that way.
1.Riva - Stringer into Riva - WHo do you love now (totally destroyed it)
2.DJ Tiesto - Flight 643 - tune was decent but they wrecked it
3.DJ Tiesto - Urban Train ........why add a vocal to such an amazing tune
4.three drives on a vinyl - sunset on ibiza......amazing tune, they added a vocal and destroyed the song
i could keep going on.....please ppl......don't wreck songs by adding pointless vocals.
I totally agree man. I mean, vocals are fine if the track is designed with them in mind, but if people are just going to add vocals to perfectly good tracks (you have mentioned several good examples), there is a MUCH greater chance to do more harm than good.
Personally I'm not that big of a vocals fan anyway. Give me a melody anyday.
Though I recognize (and love) beautiful vocals when I hear them.
they just put them in to make the crossover into euro cheese, make some more money...
Re: Stop Adding Vocals!
1.Riva - Stringer into Riva - Who do you love now
Original Stringer was good thats all that matters
2.DJ Tiesto - Flight 643
Original Flight 643 was good thats all that matters
3.DJ Tiesto - Urban Train
Have to agree on this one
4.three drives on a vinyl - sunset on ibiza
Never heard the vocal version of it but original is amazing thats all that matters
virus - hypnotise <--should never have had any vocals to begin with..great song turned to crap...someone make a dub

almost all he songs that they add vocals to have an original mix without them so it dosent bother me as long as i get the original version.
vocal
i dont like vocals much.
I agree, tracks that are produced with vocals are sometimes pretty good, but adding vocals later is almost always a disaster.

I agree, there have been so many good tracks ruined by vocals.
Vocals are more often unnecessary than not,
recent example:Snap vs. Plaything- Do you see the light (Push vocal remix) what a great tune ruined by the silly singing!
also
---The Space Brothers - Everywhere I go -- it's great that there is paul's dubber verious of this ruined track.
Vocals are only good in my oppinion ,if it's incredible lyrics, if it's an incredible voice, or if it is used as an insrument, like in
James HOlden- One For you or in Orbital - Halcyon & on & on.
agree that they are used to make it appeal to the public, tracks like Rapture and Riva- Who do you love now, are the only ones that have a chance on mainstream radio.
cheers
Ilina
Ok, well I havent read all the posts, but this is my view.
SURE some tracks OK most tracks get ruined when added stoopid vocals. But I gues then the track caters for 2 crowds because there are your typical vocal trance crowds who like the female vocal and I admit I like that, but the track with no vocals pleases the non vocal trance crowd... I guess in the end it pleases both crowds, and cheesy vocals are what sell a lot of the tracks...
OK im ranting on, ill leave it at that
haha
I love vocals, and I very rarely thing a song where vocals are added ruin the track, and often they add to it. I personally find that Tiesto - Flight 643 is better with vocals, but then again, I dont like the melody all that much to begin wiht.
One song that I really would like a good dub mix of is Tilt - Invisible. It has a really good melody, but it is completely covered up throughout just about every mix of the song I have. Another good track ruined by vocals is Thrillseekers - Synaethesia.
But tracks that are designed with vocals are devinately the best. Fragma - Everytime you need me (A+B rmx), or Aurora - Ordinary World are two great examples.
Spoiled & Zigo - More & More (Vocal mix) - if that isn't an example track thats ruined by vocals, then I don't know what is. The vocals are annoying to start with - but (to me) they're in the wrong parts of the song - they overshadow all the buildups and stuff.

I second that, vocals can really mess everything up so bad.
I want to feel the music not some girl singing about her mistakes in life when she didnt use birthcontrol.
But I guess sometimes the strive to make more money then to actually be pleased with the tune is higher.
To hear a producer say "yeah and the vocals works out pretty good" is just rubbish to me, it shouldnt
be "pretty good" it should be PERFECT.
Too many songs ruined by vocals, tho some tunes with vocals in the original is okay.
just thought id point out that the reason that most vocals are put on to trance tracks is to appeal to a wider audience. i.e. the people that make up the charts, i.e. the people that provide the money to allow record labels to make a profit (for a change). Most trance labels make hardly any money from vinyl sales unless it has chart potential and when this is decided (for example , its a massive club track)it is a known fact that radio will generally only play daytime trance that has vocals. Trance labels need radio to get their track into the charts (by mainstream people hearing the track and going and buying it on release)therefore making some money to support the finding of new club tracks and keeping the non profit making club music alive.
Real trance labels that put new vocals on established tracks arent in it to make MORE money, they are in it to make SOME money.
A lot of critism is levelled at the record labels but people should understand that they are just as passionate about the music as you are.
Support your labels people!

Could you imagine a song like Sunscreem - Exodus or Sunscreem - Please Save Me without vocals? How about Quadran - Unlovable?
Vocals are nice, if they're good and appropriate.
i mean...use vocals when needed...and no vocals when needed
I like vocals in most songs.. actually I dont really notice their there in some songs.. kind of just flows into the track. But then again, there are some tracks that I like without them.
This is why they make vocal mixes, and instrumental.
If you dont like the vocals, dont listen to that mix. Its as simple as that.. some people do like the added vocals.
These guys need to make a living to you know, so that means bringing their product into commerce. (I used to call it selling out)
It's all about the masses.
So in a way I don't blame 'em, but I won't deny that most of the time they really mess up great pieces of work
they r all good without da vocal n with, especially 643 8i think it brings a more friendly thing 2 da choon it makes it more repetative, urban trains vocal isn't much but the orig was so so so good it cudn't be destroyed n i agree with that riva is crap with the vocal. neva heard the vocal version of greece 2000, did think the orig was nething 2 speacial so i opse a few vocals wudn't change by opinion.
well dats my opinion

Definitely a lot of songs that vocals cock up. Though there are a couple that while cool, adding vocals to them made them simply amazing IMO, like
Monoboy - The Music In You
Cass & Slide - Perception
such excellent vocals...
Some other tracks ruined by vocals...
Agnelli & Nelson - Everyday
4 Strings - Into the Night
Bombfunk MC's - Live Your Life(Push Remixes)
Gouryella - Walhalla
There are many more....
but they escape my mind right now.
Oh yea, any Ayumi Hamasaki remix!
