Utterly disgusting.

I don't understand why he tasered her when he could have easily just cuffed her.

Because some men have small penises.

Yeah, looks excessive. Even if he didn't tase her she was still being beligerant, and had trouble coming to her in one way or another. Not all 72-year-old are as nice as your own grannies. I used to volunteer at a bingo hall, and although the majority of grannies there are sweethearts, some of them were bitchy old cvnts.

Officer Farva?

He told her 5 times, she didn't comply, she got tazed. I see no issue here.

wtf?! are you guys for real? "he told her 5 times" - he's got handcuffs for a reason!

Posted by MarkT on Jun-13-2009 16:34:

if he honestly believed that his best recourse to 'subdue' this woman was to taser her, then he has no business being a cop.

I'm stunned that some of you are defending his actions. wow.

Posted by Jayx1 on Jun-13-2009 16:35:

I dont think cops should be allowed to carry tasers. They are risky and obviously are being abused. If you cant tackle a person or subdue them with a baton you shouldnt be a cop. If its serious enough to deal with them with more than that a gun is there for a reason. Tasers are just a lazy way out. Ive seen cops use tasers in the entertainment district when the could have easily just cuffed a guy by throwing him down (Since there is usually a group of them and more keystone cops on their way blowing whistles and all just about everytime somebody so much as spits on the ground).

And that's the exact meat head problem right here. A taser is not to be used for non-compliance. It is supposed to be used in place of a gun, when lethal force is necessary due to imminent danger and bodily harm. If he felt like she was in a position to be able to physically harm and kill him, he needs to get replaced.

It should be obvious by now that a lot of canadians actually WANT to live in a police state and dont even realize it by definition

Posted by Orko on Jun-13-2009 16:44:

The simple question is: if he did not have a taser, would it have been acceptable for him to shoot her?

Posted by *~LiSa-LoO~* on Jun-13-2009 16:49:

I don't even want to watch the video b/c I fear it'll be too disturbing. For what I've read in other people's comments, it seems like his use of the taser was completely unnecessary. Like Jay said, they are meant to be used for extreme situations where a cop feels threatened, not for non-compliance. This is disgusting. Complete abuse of power.

So when somebody doesn't listen to you and you have to repeat yourself 5 times, it gives you the right to use physical violence? your theory is old school and the human race is trying to move forward not backwards

Posted by Spam on Jun-13-2009 17:20:

Cops really gotta stop using tasers on people for simple non-compliance. I thought they were supposed to be used in place of guns, to deal with irate and threatening people.

As for their safety, I've yet to read about a death that didn't involve MULTIPLE taser shocks... If cops would just keep their power-tripping fingers off the trigger after the first buzz, we probably wouldn't even be reading about these reports.

Posted by VERTiG0 on Jun-13-2009 17:34:

I think that tasers are perfectly fine (eagerly awaiting a 5000 word post with bar graphs and pie charts showing how dangerous tasers are, maybe a histogram or two), and I think that they should be used in place of potential fisticuffs in which the officer could very likely be injured.

Then again I'm pretty biased, one of my uncles and 2 good friends are cops, so hey.

Some of you are getting pretty butt-hurt over this.

Sure as hell gets the job done, doesn't it? We don't live in a perfect world, and there are too many times where words and reason won't work. It's just human nature.

if thats what it takes to arrest her then yes.. but in this situation a taser was not needed
