How many tranceaddicts still play vinyl ?

Quick Q to see how many on here still play vinly ?

I still play vinyl. On rare occasions though, since most people in my area dont appreciate electronic music (older house, trance) as much as some TA's like me do.

Otherwise I stick to my Native Instruments interface on turntables and MP3s ... sadly, vinyl culture is not as hyped as it was only a few years ago.

I do.

sure. when i get an opportunity to.

tough to lug them around. if i know a gig will have some t-tables set up i'll usually bring 5-10 with me that i know i'll play for sure.

as far as an all vinyl set - not since 2004.

I do, though I have not purchased in any new vinyl in well over a year.

I do

Not strictly vinyl but I bring about 20-30 with me anytime I play. Some classics, some constants.

not strictly vinyl either and i usually only buy what i can't get digitally because import prices can be a pain for north americans.

If I can only find something on vinyl, i'll still buy it on that.

Same here. USB turntable rips it to a wav file and it can be burnt to CD if needed. That said, I dont have CDJs either so I'm not really one to talk

I'm more into collecting vinyl than playing it now.

I 2nd that motion.. all in favour say...VINYL

I'm not a DJ, but I would love to get a turntable and listen to nothing but vinyl as far as dance music. Trouble with that is it would be terribly expensive, plus the original situation of EDM is now switched -- instead of most tracks being available on vinyl rather than digital, it's the opposite.

Posted by notelfreak on Jun-14-2009 19:33:

that depends on what genre you like

Is techno still mostly vinyl? I remember someone saying that DnB was, but that may have been a few years back.

i dont use anything else.. i hate CD decks, it took a fair few years before i even lowered myself to have a go on some.. and when i did, i found them to be weird, awkward feeling, and just generally unenjoyable to use.

i know there a5re countless arguments from vinyl users saying CDJs are wank, and the same amount of arguments from CD users to vinyl users calling them elitests and vinyl is obsolete.. but vinyl is the only way to go for me.. unfortunatly the reality is a lot bleaker than i would like it to be

There are still tons of house, techno, even indie rock labels that put out nothing BUT vinyl and refuse to release digitally

I've not bought any vinyl regularly for like 6 years....
every now and again I'll buy the vinyl for a special tune, but not that often

Posted by Teezdalien on Jun-15-2009 00:51:

I still love the feeling of playing with vinyl and going to record shops and trawling, but with the cost of records, I can get sometimes 8 to ten more tracks in digital format for the same price. Like others have said I only get vinyl if it's only available on vinyl or if it's a really special track to me or something.

Any 2400 baud modem users here? Still using a pager, rotary phone, slide rule and/or abacus? Just wondering.

My first PC was the Apple IIe with dual 5 1/4" floppy drives. Made turning the game floppies over to access the content on the other side a thing of the past!
